Actually I wouldn't mind a sort of instant brick wall system that would let me slam on breaks and have the idiot tailgating me crash without damaging my car. People in South Africa really do not understand following distance, and whenever it rains (often even when it doesn't) this results in lots of sensless death.

I'm doing 130km/h in the normal lane and some genius sits behind me 30cm away? The limit here is 120km/h. This happens on single lane roads as well, and by the way, going to slowly in the passing lane doesn't justify someone else driving in a dangerous manner. Over here(in normal, not stop-go traffic, which is caused by tailgating anyway) if the guy behind you flashes his lights and you are able to move to the left, you are obliged to do so, so he may pass without changing lanes, regardless if you are doing

Oh, and BTW, 'keep right except for left-turns and to pass' is standard throughout the USA, and passing on the right is also illegal almost everywhere in the USA.

Small sample, I know, but the first state I checked, Colorado, has a law that states "passing on the right is legal as long as there are two or more lanes in the same direction."
Colorado also more people moving in from other states than anywhere not named Texas or Flordia, so it doesn't surprise me that people drive on our roads with the same misconceptions that you seem to have.
I decided for the hell of it to check California's law. It's a bit more wordy than Colorado's, but the same sentiment exists. Wouldn't you know it? Texas' law is almost the same as California's. It appears New York's laws are also the same... I guess it's not a small sample anymore, is it? Not quite the "vast majority" you suspected.

I missed my exit because this guy on the Internet said I need to stay to the right when traffic is passing me even though my exit is on the left.
On top of that, I got back into the left lane because of a stopped emergency vehicle on the right that the impatient people behind me didn't see and started passing me on the right. I tried to get back over to the right and got a ticket for not getting in the left lane when the cop had someone pulled over.

Those exist already. It's those special cars with a sign on the roof that reads "taxi".
I'm using them quite often actually. The best thing is that they usually even know where you are and you can just walk to the street for one, in worst case they're a single phone call and a 10-20 minute wait away. Very convenient. You wave your hand and it comes to you, you just tell (yes, voice control!) where it has to go, and off you go.
Best of all: you don't even have to worry about parking, after you get off it'll just go it's merry way.

Yeah, nice if you live in a city big enough to have taxi's at ready call, not so good for the rest of us. Taxi's are certainly not the best option either as they are expensive and require people to be familiar with the Chinese town know as Tipping. Buses and trains also work, but again, due to U.S. political and geographical realities they aren't everywhere either and aren't really cheaper than a car unless you are traveling more than 200 miles. I want a true autopilot for my car. My phone knows where it is

Depends where you live - in my locality taxi is cheaper than private car, unless you drive really a lot, especially thanks to parking fees.

Not that I need one as I live in a country where I can get pretty much anywhere I want by public transport cheaply, and in a city where I can get pretty much anywhere I want for free. Perhaps you should start getting those taxes you pay directed into things that are actually useful for your own population, rather than deadly to other countries' populations.

I want my automobile, and the cars of everyone else who lives in an urban environment, to move away and never return so that we can reclaim the horrendous amount of wasted space and inconvenient placement of services. Cars for city folk should live in parking structures in the urban/rural interface where they can be rented and taken for work or recreation. The money we save by drastically reducing the number of vehicles we own and reduced infrastructure costs directly through roads and indirectly by placing things so far apart from each other can be used to build mass transit systems which don't suffer a large host of problems which plague them in automobile-centric communities.

None of the capabilities matter in the slightest if your vehicle requires too much maintenance or results in unpleasant driving experience.
(Yes, personal issue - I currently own one of those highly ranked Japanese cars whose owners tend to be extremely loyal and rave about its quality in variety of online media. Bought it after extensive research based on best available information. Never had a worse piece of junk in my previous experience. Perception is reality? But I digress)

The other problem with electric cars is the range. 60 to 100 miles is fine for a commuter vehicle (for most commuters), but is no good for longer distances. So far, battery technology has not been able to create an all electric car with the range and recharge convenience of a gasoline, diesel, or natural gas vehicle. Find a way to solve this problem and get the cost down, then the electric car will be practical.

Nah, you want better drivers. If you are on the correct side of the road (facing the traffic) while running, then you can see the cars coming. If you aren't, then driver should still be able to see you, and take you into account. They can also make the car make noise (***honk***) if needed. But that the car is silent is not an issue, it's a person issue (you and/or the driver).

A few years back, BMW was demonstrating using fabric for body panels with a structure underneath to show/hide features, such as headlights and such. It would be more resistant to being keyed, but of course, less resistant to to someone slashing the fabric with a knife. It was a cool concept since body panels tend to be more for looks than actual structural use.

Well, chucking a car through an airlock would make it "fly through space" but it wouldn't necessarily make it a "flying car" even should it renter Earth's or some other planet's atmosphere.
More like a rapidly disintegrating burning lump of metal.

I had two of those, each drank about of motor oil every month; the reason being that the valve cover was very poorly designed, and so leaked like a sieve.

You want a mid to late 90s 4 door CIVIC with a DOHC VTEC/6 speed transplant from a GSX-R.
The stock EX is almost there, but a little underpowered...I think underpowered is more fun to drive.
The EX is the easiest car in history to fix. You can do a clutch by dropping the right strut then sliding the trans over, but leaving it connected.
250,000 miles between rebuilds, easy. Parts are almost free.

That is the option I was hoping for. Flying is nice, but think the FAA would allow Joe Sixpack who can barely parse two dimensions, especially with the blurriness caused by both alcohol and THC levels in the blood, to be able to do 3D commutes?
Flying cars are nice, but first, we need autopiloting systems so we can have better use of the stuff existing on the roads.
Just having vehicles with the ability to drive would make a lot of transportation logistics a lot easier, be it a move that takes multiple trips

DeLoreans can go fast, it just takes a little while to get that fast -- the stock engine wasn't the greatest. Interesting trivia fact from Back to the Future -- the DeLorean speedometer actually only goes to 85 MPH, like all cars made back in the 80's (federal law). The 95 mph speedometer in the DeLorean in BTTF was custom made for the movie so that 88 mph wasn't "faster than the speedometer went."
