I think this is there is a secret sub-question to this poll: anybody who doesn't live in his parents basement gets thrown into the 10+ category.
With a family of four, I get to seven on counting phones + laptops alone. Throw the amplifier, TV and BlueRay player in the mix, and it is up to ten. Add printers and the wireless phone, and it add ups to thirteen.

When I lived in my parents basement I could have added the range extender for the Wifi, and their desktop and laptop. Without those I'm right on the edge; I'd have to physically count to be sure...

By using vessels from Cowboy Bebop, I'm forced to keep the count rather low. Of course, it also means that I can't include other devices in the scheme, such as the PS3 or the router.

My kids wanted their Nintendo DS's online, but the DS won't connect using WPA2. So here's the current rundown:

All of the kids' MAC addresses are blocked at bedtime. Anytime they get uncooperative I can threaten to move up the cutoff time. I guess that's my generations version of "go to your room and think about it".

Seriously, the poll doesn't make sense to me. What about those of us with more than one home network? Are we supposed to count devices once for each network they connect to, or just count the largest network, or count each device connected to a network?

Firstly, she almost never uses the (Linux) desktop. Literally a few times a year. 99% of her use is on the Mac which I wouldn't call "outgeeking". Secondly I run Windows on my primary machine(s) because I'm a gamer - it's the only realistic choice for what is, primarily, a games machine. The Linux server is basically "mine" so I do have a Linux box to experiment with still.
Having said that, she's a geek too, but to say she outgeeks me migh

We've got 4 100/1000 switches around the house, because everything except the phone is on the wired LAN, even the laptop and printer/scanner which have wireless capability. I'm not counting the work laptops, because they are not allowed on the home LAN; they must connect to internet and VPN via separat

Same sort of number here. 2 to 3, sometimes 4, but that's it really. A personal computer, something connected to the TV (like a gaming console) and a mobile device. What more could a person possibly need?
