The entire internet seems to be hell-bent on giving me FOMO on NFTs. But I don't care - my life is not any worse off for not owning things like rare collectible cards, and it will certainly not be worse off without these.
You gotta admit it's pretty cool though.

I consider that it's probably better to own physical items like raw metal than electronic items if the world goes sour. You can almost always trade a piece of copper or iron for some food.

Until I navigated my browser over to opensea dot io and experienced the clusterfuck going on over there. Even worse if you have webfonts disabled for security reasons. Even when you do download Metamask, the browser plugin ETH wallet that the site requires for any sort of use, the experience doesn't improve.
Lots of kinks to work out before this stuff can graduate from beanie babies to something socially useful.

Sooner or later, somebody will find a critical vulnerability in the blockchain concept, and the whole house of cards will come crashing down. It's an interesting experiment, and might lead to better variations in the future, but I'm not ready to trust my hard-earned money to a piece of software that could be hacked.

The obvious use case is as a digital deed to objets d'art. If it ever became mainstream, you could check the provenance of a piece you are thinking about buying by scanning its corresponding digital token id.

At present, NFTs are solely being used to create artificial scarcity, in order to separate fools from their money. Maybe, sometime in the future, a reasonable use for NFTs will turn up. This has not yet happened.
I could see NFTs being used as a way for libraries to loan digital material .Libraries pay to legally lend out books, etc. NFT could assure the library does not loan out more digital copies of a book than it paid for.
