Supercrew, not Supercab. Supercrew is the equivalent to the config on the Cybertruck. Supercab's rear door is a mini suicide door. And to reiterate, everything's an option on the F150, including a proper engine (although still way less performance), 4x4, the "heavy-duty" (still 2/3rds as strong) bed, etc etc. They nickel-and-dime you for everything.
And let's remember that we're only looking at the XL trim. Let's examine... heck, just the interior:
* The screen is a barely visible 2,3". Want bigger? 4,2" is an option (standard on the +$6k XLT trim), but 8" is only available on Lariat or better (+$14k)
* Want cameras on all sides of the truck? That requires the Lariat trim or better (+$14k).
* Adaptive cruise control? Sorry, Lariat or better (+$14k). Heck, even basic cruise control is an added option on XL.
* Ambient lighting? Lariat or better (+$14k)
* Lane-keeping assist? Only an option, and only available on Lariat or better (+$14k)
* Door locks? Manual-only standard on XL. You have to pay more just to have a keyfob.
* Rain-sensing wipers? Not available at all XL or XLT. Optional extra on Lariat (+$14k) and above.
* Auto-dimming mirror? Added extra up to Lariat trim (+$14k)
* Backup sensors? Added extra up to King Ranch trim (+$24k)
* Heated seats? Not available at all in XL or XLT.
* Steering wheel memory? Unavailable up to the King Ranch trim (+$24k).
* Homelink? Unavailable in XL or XLT. Optional in Lariat (+$14k). Standard in King Ranch (+$24k) and above.
* Electronic climate control? Unavailable in XL or XLT.
* Anything more than AM/FM stereo (no subwoofer)? Optional extras, up to Lariat (+$14k). All music services have pay subscriptions.
Want me to go into more sections than the interior? As I mentioned.... XL is really freaking basic.
Oh, and BTW: in 5 years of ownership, 12k mi/yr, $3/gal fuel, that's $7500 in fuel. Plus much extra maintenance.
You're asking about accessories - the accessory list hasn't been released yet. There obviously will be a wide range of accessories, as accessories are a huge profit centre for truck makers.
But is there any sense to the fad? "Retreating from life probably makes life more interesting when you come back to it," says David Nutt, director of the neuropsychopharmacology unit in the division of brain sciences at Imperial College London
"Probably"? Show me the test results of a dopamine elimination or suppression test. "Probably" can setup false expectations. Ask some of the pollsters of the 2016 election.
If the black hole is only producing 1g on you, tidal forces would be insignificant. That's because it would be a really small black hole, or one that is really far away.
If that 1g black hole is so tiny and close that tidal forces are a problem, then you also have hawking radiation to worry about.
On the (literal) bright side, hawking radiation generated by that tiny black hole could be used as an extremely efficient mass-to-energy power generator.
I don't get all the anti-Ring hate. Ring is just a cheapo security camera. It doesn't even work long distance. It is only good for about 20 feet or so. It doesn't record continuously, only when it detects motion nearby. There are other security cameras that have much better resolution and can record 24x7. The police can request video from any of those cameras as well.
I've never seen it used as a "crushing blow", or even a serious comeback. It's just shorthand for "we see things differently due to the times we matured in." It means the speaker sees no point in pushing the issue. It's a dismissal.
And *that* is why you're typing page long essays on the internet. Being dismissed. Telling people off for being "disrespectful" for a two word dismissal while at the same time telling them to get thicker skin. Calling someone ageist and then citing all the reasons you dislike people their age.
People are shit. Young people are shit. Old people are shit. You're shit, and even I am shit. That's the millennial philosophy. Maybe they aren't the ones that need thicker skin.
Tesla Semi derived specs from announcement is 1000 kWh (one full megawatt hour).
Based on the announced prices Tesla either already has or expect soon to have much, much, much cheaper Lithium Ion packs compared with what is publicly speculated.
Tesla has been always ahead of that cost curve.
Time will tell but Elon Musk seems to always achieve what he promisses as long as you account for Elon time dilation.
Otherwise they couldn't promise a US$ 200k semi with a 1000kWh battery pack.
Is "flipping a string" like "flipping a burger"?
I'll take it as a fixed price contract. You deliver the specifications and the $240,000 and I will deliver you what you require specified in exactly six months time. You will not pay "by the hour", you will pay a fixed price for the performance of the work contracted. I will not do work that is not in the contract. Deal?
Me too, and for just this reason. I haven't powered it up in more than 20 years though. Too old for the "capacitor plague" problem, but still should be brought up slowly- probably for weeks- with a Variac.
For those who don't know, aluminum electrolytic capacitors found in most power supplies tend to degrade over time, especially when not used (no voltage applied). They lose their ability to withstand rated voltage and could blow apart if full power and voltage is applied.
The capacitive insulator is an aluminum oxide layer which is formed during manufacturing and is kept intact by electrolytic (electro-chemical) action during normal frequent usage when voltage is applied.
However, over a long time of disuse, the electrolyte degrades the insulating layer, thin spots form, and when energized, one of those spots can fail rapid electrical discharge occurs which causes rapid heating, rapid expansion of gasses, and disassembly occurs. Although a cap can be replaced, they often spray electrolyte-whetted paper everywhere.
By using a Variac (variable lines transformer), you can apply lower voltage initially, slowly raise it, maybe over weeks, and give the aluminum oxide time to re-form.
I submitted a question about this a while back.

Every now and then I mount my NAS and do a full backup and dismount the drive. I'm retired now and about the only thing of importance is my photography.

I homeschooled four kids, but I only really taught one of them (who is severely dyslexic) how to read. The others learned to read because we read to them a lot, had interesting and engaging books around, and were available to answer their questions. They all figured it out and were reading at a junior high level by age 6 or 7. Those three didn't need formal reading training at all, let alone the slog through phonics. They learned to read in much the same way they learned to talk.
The severely dyslexic child needed a thorough grounding in phonics, for sure. She also needed ear training and practice sequencing sounds, so piano lessons and singing in a choir were also an important part of her reading training. She also benefitted from the study of Greek and Latin roots so she could decompose the complicated scientific words that she loved best. (She's a geneticist.) We tried a lot of different things (including different phonics programs), tossed the ones that didn't work, and kept on with the ones that were helpful.
The nightly family read-aloud was important for all of them, as was the ability to bring a stack of books to an already-reading family member and read them together.
What always strikes me as funny, is that English native speakers are well aware of the limited phonetic-ness of English, and German native speakers rarely are.
BTW, read the poem "the chaos" about English spelling. If you think it's straight forward, read a bunch of lines out loud.
Any employer requiring AWS "skillz" is not one I would want to work for.
You could EASILY self-power this thing if you had single smaller motors on each tire, true 4wd control, and didn't care about dick-busting acceleration. A typical solar panel runs 30-32V and can dump about 10A. Properly applied, you could easily be self-powered. Better lighten up though and not use stainless steel for your external body construction, because weight is absolutely still a factor.
Like you'd learn from the Boy Scouts, smaller fires spread out heat up an area more efficiently than a singular large fire. Similar concept got applied to processors, now we have the chiplet/interposer design instead of some monolithic core. Similar concept got applied to LED lighting in order to maintain LED efficiency while increasing power density.
It can work here as well.
Nothing of any real importance uses AWS. AWS is for entertainment systems, not actual work.
Tesla probably went all cyber punk because Rivian already makes the Model3 version of the F150. https://rivian.com/r1t/
110V and compressed air too. Even shows it with a bunch of camping/offroading photos.
I would consider it much better not to support that scum even though I could afford to.
You're not the victim, so your "considering" is not much help here.
You do understand that these cameras are owned by private individuals, not the police. More, the police need the individual's permission before they can have camera footage. What you have hear is basically a 21st century version of the neighborhood watch.
