Even before AI chatbot ChatGPT made headlines late last year, a video game company said it had already made a bot its CEO. An anonymous reader shares a report: In August, the Chinese gaming company NetDragon Websoft announced it had appointed an "AI-powered virtual humanoid robot" named Tang Yu as the chief executive of its subsidiary, Fujian NetDragon Websoft. NetDragon stock has since outperformed the Hang Seng Index, which tracks the biggest companies listed in Hong Kong, per The Hustle. The company's shares have risen by 10% over the past six months, per Google Finance, and is worth about HK$9 billion ($1.1 billion). At the time of the announcement, NetDragon said the bot would increase efficiency for decision-making and risk management, as well as help "ensure a fair and efficient workplace for all employees." "We believe AI is the future of corporate management, and our appointment of Ms. Tang Yu represents our commitment to truly embrace the use of AI to transform the way we operate our business, and ultimately drive our future strategic growth," NetDragon chairman Dejian Liu said in a press release. "We will continue to expand on our algorithms behind Tang Yu to build an open, interactive and highly transparent management model as we gradually transform to a metaverse-based working community."

Because those 2 sentences in TFA effectively eliminate any possibility of this company having any real value:

Anything metaverse that has a ChatGPT CEO pretty much marks the company as running on 100% horseshit, making this sentence impossible:

Check if the programer of the AI CEO has also mysteriously gotten an enormous raise and boatloads of stock options. I'm pretty sure this "CEO" doesn't operating itself, there's a team of handlers carefully herding it the way they want it to go, feeding it the right questions, and so forth.

Will Ms. Tang Yu get the Big Paycheck expected for CEOs?
How can they justify paying Ms. Tang Yu a $50,000,000 salary? It is easily but quietly managed as it is understood in certain circles that the workers must be made to clearly understand their inferior status. This relationship is important to keeping order and balance in the company. It is a universal constant in corporate operations and supported by Wall Street despite the cost to shareholders.
Additionally, Ms. Tang Yu will be expected to interact with other CEOs, the press, and possibly heads of state. She will need a salary that tells the world that she is worthy.

Seems to me this is the beginning of the end.
It remains to be seen whether it's the end of corporate responsibility, the corporate veil, or democratic society.
Having a machine call the shots means there will be no executive to hold responsible for a company's criminal actions.
The corporate veil already shields the owners from any responsibility.
And by long tradition the board of directors are (almost) never held personally responsible either.
