Submission + - About The History And Development Of The QuEChERS Method (hawachquechers.com)

hawach scientific writes: Due to the variety of targets, large structural differences, and low target content, the detection of pesticide residue method requires being accurate, rapid, sensitive, simple and low cost. The QuEChERS method is more and more widely used in pesticide residue detection, as it is green and quick. The method was developed by the National Association of Analytical Chemists in January 2007.

The US Department of Agriculture scientists first introduced it in 2003. Researched by the US Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service Center, the material is not placed in the SPF column but directly added to the sample. After a thorough validation of more than 200 pesticides, the improved method was officially adopted in January 2007 as the official method of the American Association of Analytical Chemists.

Overview
The method is characterized by extracting with a buffered salt of acetonitrile (1% acetic acid solution), leaching the target into an organic phase, and then salting out with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the anhydrous magnesium sulfate has the function of absorbing water, with the better effect of salting-out. It should be noted that the salt pack should not be added too fast, because the salt pack will saturate the water underneath, and the salt pack will generate heat and agglomerate, which will decompose sensitive pesticides.

The organic phase and the aqueous phase are separated by centrifugation, and then an aliquot is separated from the organic liquid layer and further purified by dispersive SPE. The main function of the dispersed SPE is through non-polar interaction and polar interaction. The ionic interaction selectively retains the matrix interference component for purification purposes.

That said, I agree that waiting until after black Friday/cyber Monday seems malicious. It was even possible to buy an account on these providers after they sent out notice that they were ceasing operation.

The tragic thing about communist countries is that almost all of the death (there were still plenty of ideological purges) is a result of incompetence and their horribly misguided policies. They want to try to do good, but the toolset that they're trying to use is largely incapable of accomplishing it and things tend to go horribly awry. The Nazi's were just pure evil and fully intended to kill all the people that they did.

That's why I think all of the efforts by western democracies to try to fight communism after the second world war were pointless and resulted in a lot of self-harm. The economic policies are so utterly terrible that the whole thing falls apart before too long. You don't need to fight communism when it will inevitably destroy itself given enough time.

There's a great book call The Turning Point: Revitalizing the Soviet Economy which was written by two Soviet economists shortly before the collapse of the Soviet Union where they detailed all of the problems that resulted from the planned economy employed in the U.S.S.R. and how free market reforms could help solve them. We can see how this has played out historically as the former communist countries which have enacted market reforms (e.g., Vietnam and China) have seen spectacular economic growth. It seems even more utterly stupid in hindsight that so many lives were thrown away in conflicts like Vietnam when it was just a matter of waiting for those countries to realize that their philosophy couldn't work and adopt western values of their own accord.
