Submission + - 5 Things to Look for in Your Next Project Management Tool (zentao.pm)

ReneeTg writes: A quick search on Product Hunt will show you that there are hundreds of project management tools being built and marketed everyday. It can take hours, days, or weeks even to decide on the right tool for you and your team. We believe that the right project management tool meets your project management needs. Not the other way around. It should provide you with the tools you need to communicate and work with your team members without getting in the way.
If it’s not 100% clear what these needs are, that’s okay too. Below are five things your next PM tool should have to ensure you and your team are in sync and productive everyday: 1. Good and simple design Your PM tool should be built with a solid structure masked by good design. It should sustain focus and never get in the way of your work. Creating a project, editing a task, or attaching a file shouldn’t be rocket science for you or anyone else on your team. It should be intuitive enough that you know just how to perform these actions at first glance. 2. Easy and clear communication Your next project management tool should provide clear and easy communication channels for you and your team. It should enable you to leave the inbox and create a dedicated space for team-wide conversations and discussions. At best, your next PM tool should support in-app notifications, comments and notes, file attachments, and the ability to manage notifications when needed. 3. The ability to visualize and track progress Your next PM tool should tell you exactly how the project is progressing. It shouldn’t waste your time by leaving you to guess if the project is on track or if something is missing/delayed. Features that track progress include time tracking, hourly estimation, baselines, project status, and progress dashboards. When you can track progress and plug the holes before the project gets out of hand, you save your clients, stakeholders, and your team hundreds of hours and dollars. 4. Security A lack of security can be a huge nightmare in the long run. You’re at risk of losing all of your project data, or exposing that data to the wrong people. On TeamGantt, we assure all of our customers that their data is secure through our Security page. Passwords are encrypted and all project data is transferred through SSL. We also perform automatic backups 24/7 365 days/year in case of emergencies. 5. Premium support A good PM tool is backed by good support. This is especially important if there are technical or billing issues that need to be addressed right away. It assures you that your account is well taken care of, and you can focus on your most important work Premium support should at least include email and live chat.

I should warn you that Climatedepot is a website operated by Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow, which is a nonprofit organization that is primarily funded by Donors Trust, which is a conservative/libertarian donor-advised fund; a fancy legal term for a mechanism to hide the identity of the sources of money, which can include corporations. Still, it is known that one of the largest donors to Donors Trust in multiple previous years has been the Koch Brothers, who are _heavily_ invested in the fossil fuel energy industry. Now don't get me wrong, the Koch brothers are not total monsters who delight in human suffering and keeping the world ignorant so that they may continue to stay in power. They actually do some good things at times. But, they do have some ulterior motives and a heck of a lot of power that they do appear to use to further those motives. So you should be wary of those sort of sources. Unlike government-funded scientists, who's job is to investigate and report findings; this site's job is to make its donors happy. And it's donors are happy when people think that climate change is not a thing or that humans are powerless to influence it one way or the other.

Meanwhile, entities like NASA didn't particularly care about what results it got from investigating climate change. They were just told that they have to do something useful, and not just hang out and play golf on the moon, so they picked climate change, and they happened to get these results. And similar situations happened with other government entities both within the US and in other nations. People just wanting to learn how the world works, and finding that oh dear, perhaps taking all that sequestered carbon, that was pulled out of the atmosphere by plant life over the course of millions of years and burning all of it in a little over a century isn't exactly something that the balancing factors like plant-growth and ocean absorption can sufficiently handle to prevent earth from going back to how friggin' hot it was all those millions of years ago, when the atmospheric carbon levels were higher.

Unfortunately, 97% of scientists say quite strongly that human caused climate change is indeed real. This climate change is why we now have a Northwest passage for shipping during part of the year, and that season is growing every year. That clear pathway in the arctic hasn't been a thing going back at least as far as 5000 years. And this creates a chain reaction, because the white ice was quite good at reflecting sunlight, while the dark water and land is not. This causes more warming. It also causes the thawing of the permafrost, which causes a massive leap in preserved methane, produced from ancient broken down biomass (it's basically moss). And methane is demonstrably a far worse greenhouse gas than CO2.

I would urge you to try and get your proof of the existence or non-existence of climate change from less biased sources. Learn what research has been done, the justification for how they reached their conclusions, and then go back to the biased sites and scrutinize if their counter arguments hold up, or if they are possibly using sneaky logic and carefully represented data to make things look reasonable, so long as the information isn't scrutinized. Or if you're lazy, dis: https://xkcd.com/1732/ That said, if you happen to be a conspiracy theorist, that comic's author did briefly work for NASA so, um, maybe they "got to him" or something.

They're not going to start trying to lay fiber everywhere to compete with the cable companies, they're going to be the same wireless that they've always been.

Yeah, they will probably maintain what Layer 3 already has, but even then Comcast will have nothing to do with the service and none of the data will touch a Comcast network. Though I suspect ultimately we're not going to see eye to eye on everything, I appreciate you taking the time to discuss. A couple of thoughts/questions:

Following Comcast's bad behavior in 2008, the 2010 ruling stated that the FCC was incorrect in its legal analysis and that they lacked the authority to enforce neutrality with the current rules they had in place, essentially opening a massive hole in policy that was never intended by any administration.

Congress has had seven years, under two different administrations and under control of both parties (four of those years prior to Wheeler's NN rules), to legislatively change that. They didn't. IMO that facially makes "never intended" a bit thin. Do you have more specifics on why they took no action on this if it was so blazingly contrary to what they wanted?

The FCC of today is actively working to open holes that were never intended to exist, despite bipartisan attempts by the three previous administrations to keep them closed

Help me out with that. As I understand it, Pai is replacing Wheeler's set of regulations with another set of regulations. How is that not at a minimum equally restrictive as what existed pre-Wheeler? What holes is today's FCC actively trying to open?

Were the market in a healthy condition, I'd agree that there are sufficient checks and balances in place to (generally) ensure good behavior, but with the state of the market as it is . . . I feel that there is simply no choice but to maintain the existing regulations until the market is once again healthy.

I'm guessing you're not suggesting that the regulations in and of themselves will make the market inherently "healthy" again, since you're predicting Bad Things within a year of them being removed. And if you're talking about the market somehow improving itself over time through competitive behavior, there seems little opportunity for that when any new entrants would be forced to adopt exactly the same model as the incumbents. How do you see this coming about?

Malls are like indoor parks full of familiar and unfamiliar faces gathering and walking around to different shops to buy or look for various stuff. It is a good place to hang-out with friends or family in a social environment.

Food. Food. Food.

You can visit the mall to eat delicious meals at any amazing restaurants. Cafes and food courts are almost everywhere so you could catch up with your friends at the mall.

A place to relax

You can spend a whole day relaxing in the mall by shopping, dining, taking a movie and play games. Moreover, there are amazing massage spa and salon outlets inside malls, it really is a good place for relaxation.

Controlled environment

The enclosed, controlled environment inside the mall is one of its great advantages. In the mall, the temperature is controlled to the right temperature, neither too hot nor cold. You will definitely forget the weather once you are inside.

Malls are loved by many because they provide the above-mentioned advantages to the people in the best way possible.
