Journal Journal: Clapton is God 8

"Remember when teachers, public employees, Planned Parenthood, NPR and PBS crashed the stock market, wiped out half of our 401Ks, took trillions in TARP money, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in bonuses, and paid no taxes?

Yeah, me neither."

Journal Journal: Answer me this 9

Can anybody tell me why it's a good idea to pay back government debt? Because I can't think of any reason why it's a good idea.

Journal Journal: Quote of the Day 18

âZ"[T]he truth is that privilege always lies with the majority. They're so used to being catered to that they see the lack of catering as an imbalance. They don't see anything wrong with having things set up to suit them, what's everyone's fuss all about? That's the way it should be, any everyone else should be used to not getting what they want." --David Gaider

This is regarding the seeming imbalance of options for Straight Male Gamers in Dragon Age 2, and a response to someone suggesting that there be a "No Homosexuality" menu option.

I almost forgot that tomorrow is "Slashdot doe something supremely unfunny for April Fools'" day. Which means I'll check in once to see what the stupid is this year and then wait until the coast is clear the day after that.

Journal Journal: The Teabaggers were right! 7

Limited Government IS the way to go!

A recent poll commissioned by the Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights group, found a majority of Americans opposed DOMA and backed Obama's position. Other polls have found support for legalizing gay marriage entirely trending rapidly towards a majority -- a recent Pew survey found 46% of respondents opposed to allowing gay marriage versus 45% who back the idea.

Sadly, some Teabggers still haven't gotten the memo, apparently:

Under a GOP-backed bill expected to sail through the House of Representatives, the Internal Revenue Service would be forced to police how Americans have paid for their abortions. To ensure that taxpayers complied with the law, IRS agents would have to investigate whether certain terminated pregnancies were the result of rape or incest. And one tax expert says that the measure could even lead to questions on tax forms: Have you had an abortion? Did you keep your receipt?

Just updated/migrated to the new version and...the simple truth is that you could use Intuit's flagship product as the poster child for F/OSS's success.

Journal Journal: QOTD 13

inwicapcity:

A unionized public employee, a member of the Tea Party and a CEO are sitting at a table. In the middle of the table there is a plate with a dozen cookies on it. The CEO reaches across and takes 11 cookies, looks at the tea partier and says,“look out for that union guy, he wants a piece of your cookie”.

The Washington Post: Michele Bachmann To Deliver Her Own State of the Union Rebuttal/1.21.11

I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that this is going to be the greatest fucking thing in the history of everything that has ever existed ever.

There'll be Barack Obama, the President of the United States.

Then an establishment GOP flunky.

Then a circus clown with Down's Syndrome tripping on Felix the Cat acid.

Have your popcorn ready.

Somewhere, Bobby Jindal is breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Journal Journal: Double The Irony 4

One of the reasons I dropped out of Law School is that I didn't want to be in the biz.

And now I'm a partner in a small Law Firm.

Another company that we've just recently become partners in had its first job last week. In an industry my father's worked his entire life in, and still does. An industry I spent a lot of time in as a kid and had zero interest in ever becoming a part of.

Not only can you go back, you have very little choice in the matter, apparently.

Journal Journal: More BillDog, less RailGunner 28

I want more people like BillDog to have the perspective, and voice of the right. People like RailGunner take the rhetoric up to 11, and it drowns out all the sanity of their arguments.

At least BillDog is willing to sit down discuss things rationally, understand your point of view... and then dismiss you as evil. (Kidding, slightly... ok, I'm joshing with a bit of fact, and a bit of fiction.)
