  I don't want to start a holy war here, but what is the deal with you Pony fanatics? I've been sitting here at my freelance gig in front of a My Little Pony for about 20 minutes now while it attempts to copy a 17 Meg file from one folder on the hard drive to another folder. 20 minutes. At home, on my Strawberry Shortcake, which by all standards should be a lot slower than this My Little Pony, the same operation would take about 2 minutes. If that.

    I'm guessing that somone in the editorial tema thought that preadolesent, teenage girls liked ponies, so decided that OMG!!! Ponies!!! would be funny to put under the /. logo seing as the whole day of stories has been done in a myspace\preadolesent, teenage girl type style (see: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/31/164422 5 [slashdot.org]). The rest of us have picked it up and run with it.

  I don't see why this is so impressive, I mean, it's a nice paper mod and all, but macaroni is more l33t, if water-cooled it can be overclocked up to al dente, and you can do unicorns with macaroni and Moses would have liked it too.

I seem to remember some years back there was goldleafing material for laser printers. Basicly one would print normaly, than refeed the sheet with the material on top where the fuser would cause the toner to remelt, the gold-leaf would then stick when the two sheets were seperated.

Does anyone know what this stuff was called and where one might aquire some. I know it's silly to ask "here", but might as well as it's "somewhat" related to OMG glittering ponies.

The joke is very lame. If the editors had the balls to continue the "Pony" theme for say, a week, then you'd have some sort of a Kaufmanesque type reality joke. However, I am 100% sure that come midnight the pony theme will be gone and everyone will consider this the lamest April Fools on slashdot to date. Deservedly so.

I was stuck at work all day, but managed to sneak some supplies to make my own.

I could not use sand, since I could not find any within walking distance of work, so I ended up cutting up foil tissue paper. I even framed mine.

My boss was proud of me (but told me I had to clean up the mess of glittery paper that was all over the floor once I got done)

  Similar to the "OMG Ponies" sign, however you should s/Ponies/Unicorns when applying the marker to the paper. Also, you should use real glitter as Unicorns are far sparklier than ponies.
