You seem to be ignoring context, like the story and the post I replied to.

If you feel that government censorship being a bad thing that needs to be stopped isn't a given there really isn't anything further to discuss. But in a country that holds freedom of speech and expression with the people and not their government as sovereign it is a given. If it can happen, measures must be taken to prevent it. It isn't just about today, laws can stand for hundreds of years or even longer, you don't make a law for today you make laws with the intention they should work and protect the sovereignty and freedom of the people from oppressive government even hundreds of years from now.

Maybe wherever you are from didn't have to crawl out from under the thumb of an oppressive tyrannical regime but ours did.

If you're a gamer, that's certainly true. But most heavy tasks are highly parallel today, and if they aren't, they will be tomorrow. Yeah I read an article in the last year or so that debunked the whole idea that the "small business" owners were the real job creators, though for years politicians like to romantically say it to be so over and over again. I forget the details, but the gist of it was, if a small business goes out of business another will take it's place very readily, and additional small business tend to compete against each other for the same amount of business. So having more of them doesn't really create more jobs.

Also there are several thousand different species of mosquitos. Not all of them bite humans, so realistically you just need to eliminate those that do (or the ones that feed on both humans and some other animal that carries viruses dangerous to humans) and you've solved a good part of the problem.

A reasonable amount of non-work at work makes the employees more content, and content workers is usually a plus.
It should of course be reasonable, but if you expect people to work like slaves for hours straight with no amount of non-work activity interspersed, expect malcontents and burn-outs.
Fifteen minutes of shopping or news reading or something a couple of times a day might be acceptable. Hours on end, not so much.

I'm just saying that by the time every company in a product or service chain adds their x% to cover the taxes they pay on their income the end cost of goods or services they provide is higher than it could be - and eventually people are the end purchasers. Even products bought and paid for by a company for internal use eventually get charged out as higher prices to their final consumers - whether it is goods or services. If the companies don't cover their expenses they eventually go broke. As mentioned above, there may be odd accounting games played to show loss or gain in particular areas, but the bottom line still has to be covered somehow.

Companies have an expense item called taxes (or multiple tax expense items depending on how big the company is and where it's located). That's it. Brand new companies may pay part of that from IPOs or seed capital (if they actually have a profit to pay on). Established companies pay it from prices charged on products and services. Since lower income people spend more on goods than the rich, you could even say that corporate income taxes are regressive when eventually recovered from the individual taxpayer.

I agree that the compensation paid to C level executives is excessive. But corporate income taxes in most cases won't do anything to change that. If you tie their stock options to performance which might be hurt by tax rate changes and they get annoyed, the finance audit committee will just change the comparison benchmarks or pick different companies so they can get their bonuses. They should just do away with everything except cash compensation and then adjust the tax rates from there. That would be a start.

New ideas:
(1) Thinner keyboard that's virtually unusable
(2) Glue/solder in everything so it becomes recyclable (or e-waste) after 3-4 years.
(3) Remove any useful ports. Yes, the world still runs on USB-A.

You missed my point. What kind of a weird arse computer build specs out something like a Ryzen Threadripper and then doesn't have a dedicated GPU. If you think it's the top of the line CPUs that are finding their way to industry then it's not my perception of reality that needs to be questioned.

Well for the Mac Laptop market. They all seem to still look like the 2002 G4 Powerbook. Thinner, a few new ports, less old ports, and general technical improvements. I haven't seen any new ideas in laptops in general for a long time.

The police come up with some rationale to explain why they are allowed, choose to believe themselves, and it only gets questioned if they get caught. Even then it could go either way in court and the worst that happens is the court says no.

Greece isn't really a good example for your argument. You've outlined Greece's problems correctly. However that didn't stop them from spending when they had less money. All they did was threaten to leave the Euro and take massive loans from Germany.

Their tax and corruption VS the monetary policy aren't really related issues either (but both important in their own right).

However if the did have their own money, they could simply devalue their currency (print more money), which would have an impact on inflation of course, but it would have been an option to them other than to just take massive debt. Though I forget how it turned out, as I think they ended up defaulting on it all anyway so there is that. Also Greece has like zero exports. About the only thing they make money on, would be tourism. Additionally by printing money, devaluing their currency, and increasing inflation, they can basically make everything cheaper (for tourists with money that is worth a lot more than Greece's), making it much more attractive to tourists to come and visit and spend foreign money. That is another reason the euro tanked the country, as Greece was always a cheep tourist destination which then had to compete with the rest of Europe more competitively.
