My goal was to set his baseline expectations to Linux. I wanted him to see Windows and say "wait, there's no app store thing with free games on Windows? How primitive, give me my Linux please." I wouldn't say my brainwashing attempt succeeded, but he just turned 12 and he still uses the Linux computer for most of what he does on a computer. He also has a Windows laptop that he uses to run some Windows-only stuff he likes. But he chooses which computer to use just based on what he wants to run; he has no particular preference for Windows or for Linux.

P.S. His Linux computer is an all-in-one made by Lenovo, with a really nice and big screen. I got it really inexpensively on eBay; I believe it was off-lease.

It's to the point we don't have one, but MANY draconian laws straight out of batshit crazy countries, being passed with little to no discussion. It's like we're being prepped for habitation by the "royal families".

I've been thinking about that, and have a possible answer.

For context, I started thinking about this when I heard that London is now 42% foreign born. (Here's info from 2011.) England used to be predominately white and very conservative, but it's now peppered with no-go zones and full of foreign workers. Germany and Sweden are even worse, and are *still* importing refugees.

Why is this happening in Europe?

My best guess has to do with WWII, and the genocide of various peoples: Jews, but also Gypsies, Poles, Afro-Germans, homosexuals, Jehovas Witnesses, and others. Hitler made WWII essentially a war on other races.

That incident (WWII) has become so abhorrent in the collective psyche that people will do anything to escape the barest hint of being associated with it. The people of Europe are killing themselves trying to prove that they aren't racist.

We now have British police choosing not to prosecute Muslim rapists, while threatening prosecution for the fathers (of the raped girls) for Islamophobia for speaking out. We see the police suppressing reports of Muslim crime, but going after "hate speech" crimes from regular citizens.

We're seeing a little bit of that here in the US, where putting our own citizens first is called out as racist.

Oh, this is an interesting question.

If you by dimension mean size, there is a classical estimate of what radius an electron has. If one starts to put together a small sphere of "continuous" electric charge by moving infinitely small droplets of charge from infinity to the surface of the sphere, and continues to do so until the amount of energy consumed matches the relativistic energy of an electron, mc^2, one ends up with an charged sphere with radius 2.8E-15m.

However, in modern physics it is close to meaningless to talk about the size of an electron. The electron is considered very elemental, to the point is is modeled by a point charge. Please do not confuse the uncertainty, or the wave function, of an electron with its size. The wave function represents (among other things) the probability distribution of the position of the electron.

The proton, on the other hand, is not considered elemental (being made of quarks and gluons), or a point charge, and it does seems to have a size about 0.87E-15 m or so.

Interestingly enough, the classical size of size of the electron far surpasses the modern estimate of the size of the proton.
