Terrible coding practices and inefficient architecture...like making simple things like VSCode giant Web applications in JavaScript has a cost beyond sluggishness. I wish folks considered wasted electricity...wasted heat...just so some dummy doesn't have to learn C/C++? I am convinced there are better ways to provide a good experience across 3 operating systems than JavaScript everywhere.

The problem with our blind worship of innovation is that we celebrate innovation, no matter what the cost...sometimes it takes the form of apps written in whatever language appeals to the idiosyncrasies of whomever wanted to write the app. Beyond a terrible user experience, that drains my battery on my phone/tablet/laptop...shortening the lifespan, it heats the room...it costs more server electricity and cloud computing...when will developers start caring about the performance and environmental impact of their work?...but as long as they innovate, we don't ever take them to the side and ask...do you really need 20 frameworks? Is the user experience better with your 20 frameworks than it was 20 years ago, when there were far fewer frameworks, but everything was more efficient and even more responsive?

Maybe if they gave thought to the ecological impact of their choices, they'd stop forcing cross-platform untyped languages on us and using 20 frameworks...making the process of creating their app 5% more joyful to them and making using it 10x worse for the rest of the world who wants to use their work...this especially applies to VSCode...it's SOOOOO slow and from what I can tell, doesn't really do much...maybe teams is a better use case, but I am VERY unimpressed with VSCode. I hate seeing it lock up for a minute or 2 opening a large file I have no problem opening in Eclipse, IntelliJ and especially Sublime. The same applies to modern single page applications...at work, we have a web application that was written 15 years ago...barely any JavaScript...it's SOOOOO much faster than newer apps with faster hardware. It does just as much and displays more data, but doesn't bog down my browser and is snappy and fast....even looks pretty nice...it just is very simple, minimalist HTML/JSP, written by a human being and not having 20 different CSS/JS frameworks doing simple things in the most inefficient way possible. How much nicer would modern apps be if they were more sensible about frameworks and architecture?

Vietnam and China are still 3rd world countries for most of their area, selling an EV in the mass market there at $50-100k is impossible. America is one of the few countries that EV's will make an inroad in the mass market because even the poorest amongst us have disposable income, even Europe doesn't really have the market except in the larger cities and richest of its countries, but go to the old Eastern Bloc countries or most of the Mediterranean area (except perhaps France, Monaco and regions of Italy) and you're looking at the same problem.

Apologies, if you're a big fan, but at least you have Rouge One for some actual decent story telling that even added a plausible explanation for the critical flaw in the Death Star from the earlier movies. That's rather more than what Trek has at this moment.
