BSD Fanboys (-50) -- Half of the small number of posts in the BSD section are arguments with trolls, and the other half is the same tired "BSD is more stable" stuff from 10 years ago. Apparently there's nothing else to talk about. BSD Fanboys are Dying!

OpenOffice/ODF Fanboys (-75) -- Trying to get excited about a word processor format is difficult. Especially when said word processor sucks.

OMG! Like the emotionally stunted Slashdot Fanboys (pictured below) have totally discovered Cute Overload. W00t!

Since they're all l33t hax0rs, who are smarter than all of us combined, we should relinquish the comments and let them debate:

    1. Why Microsoft sux!

    2. Why you are so lame for not encoding your music to Ogg Vorbis. What a luser! You probably listen to Brittany anyway, so what's the point.

    3. Why Jerry Taylor is, like, a total dick.

    4. How you should delete Windoze and install FC5. It's like totally easy to use.

    5. Some endlessly stupid circular argument that got started because one of their egos is as delicate as a butterfly fart.

So everyone put away their My Little Pony dolls and pop an Anime disc in your DVD, because the comments sections are going to be worthless until the Slashdot Effect passes.

Then again, if you're really nice and bat your eyelashes, you can probably convince one of these guys to fix your WiFi connection. (You, like, totally should be running WPA2 security. *snort* *snort*)

And for every Fanboy that buys a t-shirt, we'll set you up on your first date. LOL!

That's life. Get used-to it. MAny of us are absolutely fed-up with moronic political correctness, and don't give a damn.

How about "kids" being used as a derogatory term? How about "old men" being used as a derogatory term?

Don't like it, screw you. Welcome to being a member of the public, and having to put up with others, as they put up with you.

      They aren't! They mean this:

            1. Of, relating to, or having a sexual orientation to persons of the same sex.
            2. Showing or characterized by cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement; merry.
            3. Bright or lively, especially in color: a gay, sunny room.

I find it pretty offensive that you use the term "gay" as a derogatory term.

I find it funny that you're offended.

Perhaps you aren't aware that "gay" is in common usage by the youngsters as a pejorative term, and this is nothing but a parody of that usage.

If you would relax your offensive sensors a little, we wouldn't have to parse words so carefully for you, and you would instantly become a more attractive person.

        > But it's YOU who thought of it as derogatory, moron.

Your argument isn't strengthened by name-calling.

        > Gay could be in the same context as Cute.

You might've had a point if a precedent hadn't been set in the previous 3 articles:

[+] aprilfools, lame, omg, gay, thinkgeek (tagging beta)
[+] aprilfools, lame, omg, gay, birthday (tagging beta)
[+] aprilfools, gay, ponies, omg, pink (tagging beta)

I'm not sure how the tagging system works, but Slashdot is a moderated site, and the use of the term "gay" in this context arguably should be moderated out. I doubt the mods would let tags through if they had racial or misogynistic meanings, and homophobia should be treated no differently.
