Web3 gaming studio Mythical Games has let go of 10% of its roughly 320 employees. CoinDesk reports: The firm cited the economic downturn, likely exacerbated by the harsh crypto winter, as the reason for the layoffs. "[We] have had to reevaluate and restructure some areas in our business accordingly," a spokesperson from Mythical told CoinDesk. "Unfortunately, as a result, we had to make the painful decision to let some of the members of our team go." Those are rooky numbers in this week.

  • All these noble leaders taking paycuts to save their employees
  • Have they ever even released a game? "Crypto + Games" just sounds like blatant investor-bait vaporware. Looks like they've managed to bilk the NFL into joining their "platform" but their portfolio is pretty pathetic so far. This whole "economic downturn" just to be an excuse for flushing out the rats by claiming your ship is sinking...
    • Yes, they have released Blankos Block Party on Epic. Can't tell you if it's any good or not.

      • This is a Blockchain/NFT Game on Epic This game supports or includes the use of Blockchain, NFT technology, or Cryptocurrency. All transactions and related activity, payments for in-game purchases, refunds, and customer support are handled by the publisher of this product. so play it to make them $$ is my thinking.
  • Timing of a lot of these layoffs is really going the hurt the Dems in what was already an uphill battle

    • How so, did the Dems run the business or do you think people are actually stupid enough to connect being fired from a high-risk, highly volatile business with anything happening in politics?

I know, right? Sheesh, it's just a canary! Keep heading downward in that mine!

For quite a long time, I've refrained from ever asking "do you think people are actually stupid enough" in any context.

  • it should automatically mutate things like

        web3 company

    Into

        another scam company
  • How big is this company? So they laid off .9 of a person?

  • Web 3 is a con, like almost everything based on blockchain - a solution desperately looking for a relevant problem to solve.
