I tried the Wyze watch. Got them for the family. None of us wore them for long. Same with the fitbit. The closest thing that gets any use is an arm heartrate monitor my daughter uses when running. Not smart. Just a monitor.

I think these wearables will have to get a lot smaller and more comfortable to stick around.

And much more useful: they do a lot of stuff that is of marginal use, and very little that is really useful - and when they do so, they are not particularly reliable at it.

It's business. It is still the case that there is a wide social acceptance to the notion that business is the pursuit of profit without restraining ethical or moral considerations. Just as the US society as late as the first half of the 19th century accepted slavery without any questions, and most of us look at the with revulsion and horror, hopefully a century from now most members of society will look at this business position with a comparable revulsion and horror.

Comment Re:Too late, Mozilla (Score 1) 68

You don't get it: the problem is that Mozilla has reneged of their principles in a big way, at this point having dropped down there with the likes of Google and Microsoft - which they were always for-profit organizations, with Google's Don't Be Evil thing being nothing but a smoke screen. Mozilla should acknowledge that they are in it for the dough and that they will do whatever it takes for it, just like the other guys. You can (and should) say whatever you want about them, but Mozilla goes well beyond them when it comes to being hypocritical.

Should? Movies are, for the most part, for entertainment. They can be educational too. In that sense, they are welcome to show the effects of climate change. But - should? I don't think - we do not want the kind of things typical of such charming regimes as Russia or North Korea.

A consequence of the tariffs is that different vendors have now a justification to increase their prices even the tariffs do not affect them directly or at all: they are for-profit organizations, after all. Expect similar moves from many other vendors.
