Submission + - Child Receives Trachea Grown From Own Stem Cells (singularityhub.com)

kkleiner writes: Doctors at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) along with colleagues at the University College London, the Royal Free Hospital, and Careggi University Hospital in Florence have successfully transplanted a trachea into a 10 year old boy using his own stem cells. A donor trachea was taken, stripped of its cells into a collagen-like scaffold, and then infused with the boy’s stem cells. The trachea was surgically placed into the boy and allowed to develop in place. Because his own cells were used, there was little to no risk of rejection. This was the first time a child had received such a stem cell augmented transplant and the first time that a complete trachea had been used.

Submission + - Hacker recreates video of abuse by civile polices

An anonymous reader writes: A guy in sweden is offended by 2 civile polices. He captures the incident with his iPhone (photos and video). The police forces him to delete the photos, by threatening him. He deletes the photos but makes a raw dump of the phones memory when he comes home. By some hacking he succeeds to recreate almost everything. He describes the process on his blog, and post the photos and the video from the incident.

Please rewrite my bad summary.

It has always been my understanding that the Supreme Court has determined that the border is where the powers of the executive to order searches has been at its zenith.

More precisely, warrants are not required at the border.

So, within that confluence of factors, the searches were probably quite legally acceptable.

Which :
- doesn't make them any more reasonable
- is starting to piss off people to the point they are reconsidering going to physically go to your crazy country for business
- remains utterly stupid since the US were still connected to the Internet last tie I checked

So maybe it's "legally acceptable" in an international blank zone. But that's certainly not how people perceive it. In the end, it's both against the spirit of the law and utterly useless.

Depends on the call center. I work in what is effectively a call center for a large software company at the escallation site (in the US). Me and my peers love our job, Salaries get into the six-figures after you've been here for 2-3 years (not that they start low, mind you), customers don't scream at us, and we aren't taking calls as fast as we can. I have a friend that works escallations for a large PC company and it's a similar experience for him,

I completely understand that my experience is not a typical call center, but not all call centers suck.

Don't forget with Park plus you can register multiple cars and phones against an account. And you can log in and log out. So you only pay for the time you're actually using. They automatically bill you for the maximum time (if your paying via cell phone) the zone allows, then when you are ready to go, you call the system back and it asks if you want to log out, you press 1 and the difference is credited to your account.

If they offer a single-player campaign that's three times as long (and if you read the coverage on the game so far, this looks like what they're doing), then what, exactly, is the problem? Oh, right. Nothing. You may not like having a trilogy of games, but giving you three times as much game for three times as much money is hardly the money-grubbing move everyone portrays it to be.
