Journal Journal: So I took a page from mcgrew 7

mostly because I was bored, and got a hummer for 10 bucks. I would have left a tip, but I already gave her the whole thing.

Wow, that joke sucked. I should troll myself for even posting it.

Journal Journal: Fuck your jobs! 4

"If the government hired away all the 58,000 thousand oil workers who work now in the state of Louisiana, and paid them their same salary to work repairing infrastructure and building solar panels, it would cost us 5.5 billion dollars, which the pentagon loses every day in the couch... Yes the oil industry creates jobs. So does the kiddie porn industry.."

Journal Journal: **No Title** 3

The arrest in Kuwait is fake. There are no 260,000 documents. Assange is being setup for a US takedown. Lamo is a stooge.

Journal Journal: "Because look at all the good we're doing in Afghanistan." 1

It took seven years, three trillion dollars and a million corpses, but America has finally transformed Iraq from a cruel dictatorship ruled by torture and ethnic cleansing into a cruel dictatorship ruled by torture and ethnic cleansing where select survivors are free to vote for the torturer of their choice. And Jesus said "It is accomplished!"

For what it's worth - the sentence I abhor is the "Never Assume - it makes an ass of you and me!" bit of obnoxious cleverness, even more annoying than "There is no I in Team!".

It just irritates the hell out of me, since all logical though is in fact based on *some* set of propositions taken for granted. Euclid is based on one set of assumptions, Riemannian geometries an almost identical set of assumptions. Good thing for both Newton and Einstein Euclid never bought into *that* BS.

"Never Assume" only seems 'clever' to Sophist jackasses that don't want to give any ground in which they might lose an argument - as even Socrates observed, that was the entire point of the Sophists, that by not giving *any* starting ground with which to start a debate, they could switch arguments midstream and be seemingly unbeatable, but could not be counted on to achieve any sort of truth in the end.

Know your assumptions by all means. Be prepared to test them, to notice if an assumption leads to a contradiction, to discard it if it proves untrue.

But "Never Assume"? Never trust the worldview of anyone that thinks that's clever commentary on life.

Comment I want an end to Kaspersky Lab (Score 1) 537

There are plenty of places to get products which are equivalent or better than anything that company sells.

IMO, the company just went from security protection to security risk.

I'm sure that Kaspersky would love to sell the technology for an "Internet Passport" to governments. If that's where their CEO wants to get its cash flow, they can have at it. They don't deserve a cent from the rest of us, either via product sale or via taxes.

If you or your company uses their products, it's time to look for alternative vendors.

(Sadly, I'm sure the DRM-happy loons would root our ears if they could, so we can't hear people singing "Happy Birthday" unless they've paid the performance fee.)

So, pound sand, bucko! YOU were the one that wanted to be the big police cheese, and this is a fringe benefit that comes with the job!

Journal Journal: Laughable logic 10

An example of the kind of shit logic that Jonah Goldberg uses in his stupid book "Liberal Fascism":

1. Nazi is shorthand for National Socialism.
2. Socialism is a left political philosophy.
3. Therefore the Nazis were leftists.

Using this same logic:

1. USSR is shorthand for Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
2. Republic (the root of Republican) is right there in the name
3. Therefore the Republican Party is Soviet.
