Indeed. Forcing somebody to work more than 10h/day and 50h/week counts as assault and can land you in prison in some countries in Europe.

Funny...that's not something I've ever run into my whole career.

There have been a very FEW long nighters here and there when we had to get something out the door, or maybe servers/database went off line....

But those were extremely rare occasions...which I could likely count on both hands all my life and still have fingers left.

No one holds a gun to your head to work outrageous hours in the US.

He is right that the gap between the US and Europe gets larger though: The US is losing its middle-class and everybody is getting poorer and poorer (excluding the rich).

But in the US, with so much opportunity...and sometimes a little luck, you CAN create your own business and do very well.

And like the article says, in America, you can try, fail, and try again....till you make it.

Just takes mostly determination.

Yeah this is definitely a "I'll know it when I see it" type of judgement but to be fair most of their customer base if presented with the question of "how would you feel about someone using an AI app to perfectly map your face onto a nude body and distribute them and most people will not know the difference or see it labelled as fake in any way" would have a negative reaction to that.

Well....if the resultant images made me much less fat, and a bit more ripped....I dunno...maybe?

the move from prismatic to cylindrical enables substantially better densities

When you put a bunch of cylinders in a box you by definition have wasted space.

When you put boxes in a box you can have no wasted space.

How does using cylindrical cells improve density?

Using cylindrical cells also means having to have more parallelism to achieve a specific capacity, which means more connections, which means less reliability. This is a big part of the reason why post-collision Tesla model S batteries are unsafe for RV power storage. You can't reasonably detect bonding faults.

Right to swing fist, end of my nose, etc etc.

You literally cannot prevent that in an app which can make consensual nude images. Therefore the word nonconsensual is being used in order to trigger people into having a specific opinion. A better description is "an app which can be used to create fake nude images" since it can't literally show you what someone would look like unclothed.

There's a link somewhere below showing the install menu, giving you the option to install a floppy-only option across multiple floppy drives. Which meant that when you wanted to run different built-in DOS programs, you had to swap to a different floppy on the fly.

Steve Jobs apparently liked this way of doing things all the way into his early NeXT products, where everything ran from the optical drive, OS and applications included. It fit his idea of "elegant".

It obviously is targeting coal. A fair policy would simply tax carbon and let the various industries compete after accounting for their carbon imprint. But that wouldn't leave infinite opportunity for bureaucracy to pull the puppet strings for eternity, and might also prove them unnecessary.
