ChatGPT For Android Is Now Available 15

OpenAI has released ChatGPT for Android, months after launching the free iOS app for iPhones and iPads. You can download it in the Google Play Store. The Verge reports: According to a company tweet, it's available first in the US, India, Bangladesh, and Brazil, with other countries set to follow later, mimicking the staged rollout we saw for the iOS version. On July 27th, OpenAI announced additional availability, saying the Android ChatGPT app is now available in Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, the Philippines, the UK, and South Korea.

I guess I'm excluded from the AI revolution because I refuse to pay for the pleasure of being tracked 24/7. They don't accept landline numbers. I could go make a VoIP forwarding number but they don't accept those either.

If there's a workaround, I'd like to know. If not, then I'm warning everyone else without a mobile number: don't even bother trying.

    • I hear you and I am in the same boat. I refuse to supply a mobile number to ANY company or organization and it causes problems when it absolutely should not. A great number of those places absolutely will and do spam people, and doing it on a mobile phone is completely unacceptable to many of us.

Had this argument recently with my bank, who flat-out REFUSED to give me any option for their mandatory 2FA except their spyware app or mobile phone number. They took away Email (which is what I was using), and n

      • I refuse to supply a mobile number to ANY company or organization

Why? I assume from the wording and from the post you're replying to, that you accept to give them a landline number. Just get a burner mobile and keep it in silent, it's basically same as a landline. I have an old flip phone with a pre-paid SIM card that cost me nearly zero to keep (maybe 5 euros per year to keep it active, can't recall last time I had to pay anything). It can get as much spam as it wants, I won't answer or read sms besides the validation codes that I actively asked for.

        • I don't believe such options are available in the US, at least not anymore. All -re-paid SIM cards (or phones) expire in 30 days or so. So you are on the hook for some repeating charge, regardless of usage.

About the cheapest thing I could find was this concept: https://www.burnerapp.com/ [burnerapp.com] But not sure that would do either.

      • You realize they won, right?

You're not likely to be a millionaire, so they're probably not making enough money off of you to justify you as a customer, but banking regulations won't let them just close low value accounts. They're stuck with you unless they can irritate you enough to leave.

If you are a millionaire, you wouldn't be posting this because the bank manager would be doing everything they can to keep your business, including special apps and account types the plebs don't know exist.

    • there are ways to block tracker, duckduckgo browser has a vpn firewal that does it for every app i stalled, another one is karma fw found on f-droid
    • Use poe.com or chat.forefront.ai, they allow email-only logins. Or check BugMeNot for chat.openai.com logins... or use one of the sites listed in the GPT4Free repo README [github.com].

I haven't tested the sites on mobile, though, so I don't know if they're any good there.

Hey thanks. I got poe.com to generate song lyrics with the prompt "I'm writing a song called 'Worms In My Mouth', it's supposed to be a goblin song for us goblins, do you have any lyrics to suggest?" Here's the output, which is considerably better than I expected:

Sure, I can give you some lyrics to consider for your goblin song "Worms In My Mouth". Here are a few suggestions:

        Verse 1:
I woke up this morning with a funny taste in my mouth
Couldn't quite put my finger on what it was about
        Then I realized with a s

I've always wanted to generated BS while driving down the road. Which is also good, because ChatGPT told me that not only was it legal, but it was required in 39 states to use ChatGPT while texting and driving.

  • They've ChatGPT for Android available for a while now.

What does a native app bring that the mobile app doesn't? Tracking?

  • I'd rather not, im sure the app will just slurp up all the data on your phone to put into it's next AI model
  • It's literally text in, text out.

Why not just use the website?
