With good reason.
Data dependent changes. They're a problem in statistics and they're evil in crypto.

So that'll provide plenty of material for medical researchers, nutrition researchers, education researchers and economists to keep doing what they're doing.
South Korea is really the only reason we are pulling our punches with these guys or even care.
So are you arguing that the US is less secure now than it was in 1774? Back when we had almost nothing, fighting the globe-spanning England, we rejected torture as being against our principles. Now that we're the richest, most powerful country on the planet, "threatened" by terrorists (i.e. fighters without even the backing of a country) we're willing to give up our principles?
I know, but.. Sony, North Korea and the FBI. Not exactly a triumvirate of trust.
Those require certain filesystem attributes to be set regardless of what the name on the file is.
On the other hand, if your OS and user shell and email application simply avoid the equivalent of "bash you-don't-know-where-I-came-from.zip", you easily avoid a lot of this nonsense.
You would never consider taking random things you find on the floor or street and putting them in your mouth, but that's exactly what some "modern" software does.
Instead of "The Interview", a theater in Texas has decided to show "Team America" instead....
Except in Texas they think Team America World Police is a documentary.
> I've received dozens of these. All via hijacked SMTP hosts.
Any time I see one of these I examine the headers and invariably it is some end user desktop running off of a dynamic IP from some ISP.
I don't know what to believe. On one hand, we have Sony. On the other, North Korea. Finally, the FBI.
Shit, they're probably all lying their asses off.
I usually vote Greenie or Libbie unless one of the two majors is particularly offensive or I think the incumbent has done a good job (voted against Clinton his first administration, but voted for his reelection).
Today's programmers suck. Why in the HELL should holding a mouse over a control for a few seconds activate it? The mouse shouldn't do anything but move the pointer unless I click. And when I click the "file" menu, that's the menu I want. Why does the "edit" menu open if the pointer strays off of "file" after I click "file"?
Is it stupidity of maliciousness? Are today's programmers just trying to piss us off or are they all idiots?
It also increases interest in the movie. If it hadn't been for this threat, I doubt many of us would even be aware of "The Interview".
What good is a ticket to the good life, if you can't find the entrance?
