Attach this to your wrist, and the machine will be powered off when the USB drive is removed from its port.

You mean attach a cord to the USB thumb drive, tie the other end to your wrist, and insert the thumb drive into your computer before using it?

Seems like a hassle. The cord would have to be pretty short for this to work. It might be ok for temporary sessions on a laptop at the public library, but not for daily use with your home desktop (which is likely not on your desk but on the floor).

Someone should make a wireless version. Using a USB wireless mouse with those little snub receivers you plug into the USB port could work.

You leave the snub plugged into the computer. When the mouse is turned on, USB state changes and you have a live USB human interface. Then you type in your disk encryption key and use the computer. If the mouse is turned off OR if the mouse goes out of range of the receiver, USB state changes and computer shuts down. Now you just need to pull the guts out of the mouse and put it on a fashionable wristband or whatever.

There is enough similarity between programming languages that there really is no point in learning any more than what you need. If you find yourself in a position where you need to learn a new one, as long as you have a pretty broad background it usually only will take a couple of days to get going and a couple of weeks to get really good.

But but... I was just scolded a couple of days ago about the differences between languages!

I was told that different languages will force me into different modes of thought!!!

I'm so confudded, I don't know *what* to think any more.

It's for a for-profit venture that develops proprietary materials.

In other words, that $100M is designed to make its own little children and eventually turn into $10 billion dollars.

But fear not, there is probably a form of financial assistance for Facebook employees.

No, right? This isn't a gift. It's an investment. Also, the fund is going to a single company called AltSchool.

Since "static" probably means that their ip is static. So here is what Verizon Wireless says about its static ip addresses.

What is Static IP?
With Static IP, your device uses the same IP address every time. For companies with secured networks, a device with a static IP address helps the network administrator open their network to the specific address, which gives you access to the company intranet. Medium and large-sized accounts, primarily business accounts, often need static IP addresses. This feature is not for everyone. Individuals and most small-businesses will not require a static IP address.

Do I need Static IP?
Static IP is for those who are using an application that requires Static IP addressing. These applications include:

Telemetry
SCADA
Public Safety
Wireless ATM
Wireless Point of Sale
Machine to machine addressable units

How much does Static IP cost?
A one-time setup fee of $500 will be charged at an "account level" for each Static IP account that is set up.

This is definitely not a run-of-the-mill customer.

Now, if its something that was done by a pro pirate, they would not have "voluntarily" handed over that info and would have used a tool to block it.
