A surprisingly efficient alternative for ad tech documentation and collaboration Date: Aug 03 2025
Summary: ONLYOFFICE Docs is a strong fit for ad tech teams dealing with data-heavy collaboration. It’s helped me manage everything from SSP performance reports to live campaign reviews without the usual formatting or access headaches. While it could improve on integrations and interface fluidity, it’s reliable, efficient, and makes day-to-day documentation and partner coordination much easier.
Positive: ONLYOFFICE Docs fits well into my workflow in Demand and Key Account Management, where I’m constantly analyzing DSP and SSP data across metrics like bid CPM, win rate, and net pub revenue. It handles large, formula-heavy spreadsheets without breaking, which is critical when I’m building reports to share with supply partners or summarizing trends for internal review. My team frequently co-edits documents for weekly performance summaries, QBR prep, and troubleshooting logs, and the real-time collaboration with version control keeps everything structured and efficient. It also helps during partner calls, I can walk through live documents without worrying about format issues or download delays, and the option for private hosting ensures sensitive data stays in our control.
Negative: Switching between document types (like Sheets and Docs) isn’t always smooth, and the UI could use some refinement to match the fluidity of tools like Google Workspace. Integration is another weak spot, we rely on Slack, internal dashboards, and ticketing systems, and having to manually update across platforms adds friction. Comments and discussions are functional but feel tucked away, which slows down quick async feedback. Still, for spreadsheet-heavy work and structured collaboration around performance analysis, it holds up well and has become a reliable part of our documentation toolkit.

One of the best free office software for desktop Edited: Jul 15 2025
Summary: Overall, ONLYOFFICE is a solid free alternative to Microsoft Office, especially on desktop. The AI tools make things like Excel formulas much easier, and the PDF editor has really improved. It’s not perfect—the updates are a bit slow, and the mobile app is pretty limited—but for everyday use on a computer, it’s honestly great.
Positive: I’ve been using ONLYOFFICE for over a year now, and to be honest, it’s the best free and open-source alternative to Microsoft Office I’ve come across. After a few recent updates, it’s better than ever.
One of my favorite features is the built-in AI. You can type in plain English, and it automatically generates the correct formula for Excel. This means I no longer need to remember thousands of formulas to get my work done.
The PDF editor has also improved a lot. It had some issues before, but now it works just fine.Negative: As for drawbacks, there aren’t many, but the updates aren’t released very frequently. I also started using the mobile version of ONLYOFFICE, and I have to say—it’s not great. While the desktop version is solid, the mobile app lacks many important features. For example, you can’t upload or create PDF or DOCX files as easily as you can with Microsoft 365.

OnlyOffice is Looking Much Better Now, But Still Needs Some Work Here and There Edited: Jul 15 2025
Summary: I’ve been using OnlyOffice for a while, and honestly, the latest update feels like a big step forward. The new design looks clean, and the AI features are actually useful — not just for show. I like that you can pick different tools depending on what you need, like image generation or translation. It’s been smooth overall, especially on Linux, but yeah, there are still a few issues. Sometimes it slows down with bigger files, and the collaboration part could be improved. But all in all, it’s moving in the right direction.
Positive: I’ve been using OnlyOffice for a bit now, and honestly, the version 9 update really changed things for me. The new design just looks and feels better — more modern, smoother to use. It’s the kind of update that makes you go, “Oh, okay, they’re actually trying to improve stuff.”
One thing I really like is the AI integration. What’s cool is you’re not locked into one thing — you can choose which AI to use.Negative: If I had to point out a few downsides, I’d say performance can dip sometimes, especially when working with larger documents — not super often, but enough to notice. Also, while the collaboration features are there, I feel like they’re not as intuitive as they could be. Like, real-time editing works, but sometimes there’s a small delay or it feels clunky compared to other tools. Would be great to see that polished up in future updates.

ONLYOFFICE After 1 Year – Free MS Office Alternative Worth Trying.. Date: Jul 10 2025
Summary: but not everyone wants to spend money on it, especially for basic work. I discovered ONLYOFFICE over a year ago, and surprisingly, it’s been my go-to ever since. No ads, clean UI, and honestly, it feels like a proper Microsoft Office twin — but for free.
Positive: I was just looking for a simple, free Word alternative for my college work. Tried a few options like WPS Office, LibreOffice, and Google Docs. Some had weird layouts, others had annoying ads or limited offline support. That’s when I found ONLYOFFICE.
At first glance, the interface felt super familiar — like MS Office 2016-style. It didn’t feel like I was compromising on quality just because it was free. No popups, no ads, just a clean workspace.
Negative: What bothered me most, though, is how little help there is online. Got stuck trying to format something? Good luck finding a proper tutorial — especially one that’s simple or in Hindi. It’s not a huge deal if you’re tech-savvy, but for someone new, it can be frustrating figuring things out on your own.

Review of Document and Spreadsheet Only Edited: Jul 10 2025
Summary: I am retired but leaving number of MS Office files in my own computer. With a sudden broken system disk, I could easily open all my files without hassle or waste of time to ask MS support for help. I found that OOD is good for me for handling daily records. I used it just over a month. I cannot tell too much about Pros because it is almost similar to MS Office except some functions that I have never used during my working life. For those Cons, I believe the developer will gradually sort them out.
Positive: The Document and Spreadsheet of OnlyOffice Doc (OOD) provides what I need. OOD is quite compatible to MS Office. As a long term MS Office user, OOD is not strange to me. It is free for individuals who will not be bothered if their computer/system disk is broken because I am one of the victims using retailed licenses. To open all MS Office files are the same operations without hassle.
Negative: There is no way to provide feedback to you/developer. I have written to the forum to express my problems I encountered but haven't had replied but the ai robot. If there are frozen row or column, the cursor is always at the beginning of the file but not the last record. Bookmark doesn't automatically look up the text you print in the box of the window. You need to move the right hand scroll bar to look for it. For spreadsheet, data (colored texts and/or numbers) are sometimes automatically changed into a mess of blurred color objects if it is not used for a period of time. It is required to be closed and re-opened again.

ONLYOFFICE Review After 1 Year – My Honest Experience Date: Jul 09 2025
Summary: Onlyoffice is a solid free alternative to Microsoft Office. It looks clean, has no ads, and comes with useful templates. I’ve been using it for over a year and really like it. It could use better cloud support and more tutorials, but overall, it’s a great free option.
Positive: The best thing about ONLYOFFICE, in my opinion, is that it's free to use. I initially started with Microsoft Office on Windows, but the free version is full of advertisements—especially in the extensions. In contrast, ONLYOFFICE has no ads in its extensions, which I think is the best part. It’s completely free .
Especially after the version 9 update, it looks almost exactly like Microsoft Office. It doesn’t feel out of place—it actually looks like a native Microsoft app, unlike many other free alternatives.Negative: As for the cons, I think it needs better cloud integration. And of course, it could use more extensions. While there are already some useful ones, I believe having more would be great. Another issue is the lack of tutorials online. The software itself is excellent, but it’s really hard to find tutorials for it. They should definitely focus on creating more tutorial videos so people can learn to use it more effectively.

OnlyOffice review Date: Jul 08 2025
Summary: OnlyOffice is a very good alternative to MS 365 and could be excellent by fixing those little details I mentioned above
Positive: Very good alternative to Microsoft 365.
I wrote my PhD manuscrit and presentation initially in Word and PowerPoint.
Then I moved to Linux (Ubuntu) and OnlyOffice.
It worked very well with both documents, which were very complex in terms of advanced functionalities.
Also, AI integration is very easy as well as the other pluginsNegative: Basic functionalities:

- Math AutoCorrect doesn't work (-> should generate → for instance, or +- should generate ±, etc.) which is very annoying
For academics:
- Mendeley (a reference manager software) doesn't for desktop editors which is very limiting
- Zotero (another manager software) doesn't work well. So, a workaround is needed to update citation number by downloading and editing the script from GitHub (which as far as I know only works with flatpak and not snap) -

Summary: As a project manager, I need tools that don’t slow me down — and ONLYOFFICE delivers exactly that. It’s efficient, easy to collaborate with others, and handles all common document types without issues. Definitely worth using for daily tasks.
Positive: What I like most is how straightforward ONLYOFFICE is. There’s no learning curve — everything feels familiar if you’ve used other office tools. Sharing documents with my team and editing them live has been smooth and reliable so far.
Negative: The only downside I’ve run into is that the desktop version takes a moment to start up on slower machines.
