1. my post was being sarcastic as to the idea that all the items were 'fads that had gone bust'.
2. logical development or not, Bill was trying to foist his tablets on people for more than 10 years, and rather unsuccessfully...I guess Steve just looked at what Bill did, and went "Well, I'll just not do what Bill did, and do what Bill didn't, and my tablet will be wildly successful". It seems to have worked.

There are only a zillion companies today that wish they were the ones selling, including EVERY SINGLE competitor such as Samsung, Google and Microsoft:
-iPods
-iPad Airs
-iPad Minis
-iPhone 5S
-iPhone 5C (yes, even this absolute failure, which only has either the 2nd and 3rd highest sales volume in the US since it was introduced)

And by this, I mean that they wish they could take over selling these devices right now, even those all these 'fads' have gone bust.

And Apple never sold netbooks, and I guess everybody has jumped on Apple's wearable fad before Apple has.

Pretty much the only musicians/comedians who make money with "pay what you want" or even with their own web site selling their wares for similar or even lower than the 'regular' price of similar merchandise are the ones who don't need the money and who have already 'made it'. They already went through the process of going through labels or promoters, dingy nightclubs, and made it big, so that lots of lots of people already know about them and what to expect from the product they buy. And they also get a whole bunch of free advertising by doing it. Louis CK offers a video of his standup for a couple of bucks, lots of web sites published articles about how cool it is that he is doing it all on his own. Joe Blow comedian does the exact same thing, NOBODY NOTICES and/or CARES. His mom will buy a vid, but that's about it.

But this is only about your DRM thing. The rest of your comment is reasonable.

Otherwise, pickup trucks/jeeps are also weapons under this idea, because military forces trivially bolt large machine guns or antiaircraft guns or even small missiles to truck beds all the time.

and if you go with "the vehicle itself is a weapon" argument, then again, pretty much every vehicle you see on the street also meets that definition.

Yes, my document destruction process is:

When I see the police coming, lock and barricade all doors, and begin shredding every document with any of my alias's on it. And wipe my phone.
If I am arrested, I will demand to immediately speak with my lawyer, who has been given instructions that any time I phone him, he will automatically cause my phone to be remotely wiped.

spy gap...hah...we need to be the leaders in spying...it's like copyright, one side "harmonizes" copyright law with another country by passing new copyright laws that are just a bit more strict than the other country, then the other country "harmonizes" copyright law with the first, but only a little more strict, lather, rinse, repeat..
