Comment They all worship the same god (Score 1) 56

That god is of course the almighty dollar. Don't pretend that you don't already drop down to worship him, and don't pretend that your party isn't driven by the principle of worshiping him at every opportunity and praising him above all others.

You clearly are not learning anything from the text, you might as well be reading more conservative blogs instead.

I'm not going to read it for you. If you don't want to read it, then don't. However when you choose not to read it you have no right to call yourself knowledgeable on Communism. Similarly if you read it at such a level of proud non-comprehension, you don't have any right to claim to have really read it, either.

It sounds like you would have been just as well to have downloaded a scan of the original document in German, as a PDF, and tried to read the raw file in notepad.

Actually, in the comment that got this part going the author said

-22 F temps are normal for us in the winter, and I don't heat my garage

In MN the word "garage" has a rather specific meaning; a minimum of 4 walls (one of which has a door that a car can drive through) and a ceiling. Now, a garage in MN may - or may not - be heated or insulated depending on a wide variety of factors. Many are also attached to houses (or even tucked under houses) which generally makes them a bit less expensive to regulate temperature in.

But nonetheless the poster did specifically mention having a garage.

That does not in any way sound like a perspective from someone who is reading for comprehension. If someone said that about the Bible when trying to understand Christianity I expect you would come down quite hard on them. You're reading the capstone work of Communism but attacking it with such fervor as to make it highly unlikely that you will get anything from it. It sounds like you would have done just as well to spend that time reading comic books and celebrating your ignorance instead.

You have a valid point. However, slashdot is not intended as a forum for middle management to trade buzzwords. Slashdot is supposed to be for technical discussions. Arguably even if we can't permanently strike "gelling" from the English Language it should be reasonable to present an argument against using it here.

Wow, did I finally manage to persuade you to actually read and learn? I'm not quite on par with these guys but with the great wall of resistance you have constructed to keep learning away, I feel like I (may) have made a great breakthrough here.

That said, I'll have to wait and see if you show any understanding of the text or if you give up on it.

Wow, free as the Bible.

I'm quite sure I mentioned a few times that you can read it for free.

We'll see if it's as useful.

Would you consider someone who has not read the Bible in any way, shape, or form to be a qualified expert on Christianity? You keep trying to claim yourself to be an expert on Communism without reading the most important text on the subject.

"history of class struggles" Really? I'll suspend my disbelief, but I think "class" has precious little to do with mankind's existential woes. Clearly, though, this has been an effective sales pitch, in the "credit where due" department.

I figured it would be too much to expect you to try to go in to it with an open mind.

But if you're in Wisconsin, you really should peruse http://althouse.blogspot.com/

Most of what I see there is the same kind of nonsense that reaffirms for me that it is a good idea to not use facebook. I didn't see anything on there in the first page's worth of listings that actually relates to Wisconsin.

It is a lot easier to energize a smaller population.

Be careful, or you'll start agreeing with me that people don't scale, and all this centralization is pure folly.

No. Getting people excited over a slick presentation is a completely different matter than actually doing something useful for them. That said, I haven't seen any growth in "centralization" lately.
