It also has the potential to spread Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) and scare the masses, and our lawmakers,
the difference is that here, it's all warranted.
into reactions that would be counterproductive.
counterproductive to whom?
Running an application for an industry specific vertical product that is built on the IIS/ASP/MSSQL stack? I don't have a problem with that.
sure, put a gun to my head and i won't have a problem with a lot of things. on the other hand, i'm going to avoid jobs that say they need such things.
Doing internal DHCP/DNS/AD/Exchange? I'm fine with that, too.
now you are just being lazy because there is no such thing as an internal server if you connect it to a network.
not all open source code is bulletproof but microsoft has proven their code is swiss cheese. so why would anyone willingly use a MS product that for something that needs to be secure? when people are shooting at you, do you want to be wearing body armor or cheese?
the basic problem they have is that they have three times the workload than a few years ago. shouldn't this mean they should have three times the staff to properly handle the workload? "O NOZ DAT COST MONIEZ!!!11" is not a valid excuse because the students are paying the university which in turn is paying for staff!
i opted out by leaving their entire network. fuck them and their unquenchable greed.
"Outlook not so good."
The group's statement suggested that some patent holders weren't satisfied with the money they'd make through MPEG LA's license.
so there are 500 patents and at least one of the patent owners is an insufferable greedy asshole? what's next, are bears going to start shitting in the woods too?!
At this rate I'll finally be able to have my entire music collection on an iPod without having to compress my music in that terrible FLAC format. FLAC is a "lossless" format but you can totally hear which bits have been squished into the file for too long! That's why I decompressed all my files and let them sit for a week, so that the bits can breathe.
tomorrow's email from management:
"The good news is removing attractive models from the event is positive progress for our society. The bad new is that we already bought the skimpy outfits for the models, so now you have to wear them."
Why
because solar panels dont generate weapons-grade plutonium?
slashdot devs. please, add a volume slider to the video player! you are the only ones without it and sucks having to adjust your system volume because of one website decided a volume slider was too much to ask for!
The new manufacturing method won't make the wafer any cheaper, but it does allow it to be reused roughly 50 to 100 times, dramatically reducing the per-chip cost and opening up gallium arsenide for wider use.
unless they are going to start buying back CPUs, this development means very little.
there are very few reasons to keep flash installed/enabled. if you must have it, use flashblock but chances are you can just disable/remove it completely. if some site still uses flash to play video, leave a complaint in the comments. those that haven't switched to html5 yet will do so soon enough.
if you still have java plugin installed, you better have a good reason because no (sane) sites use that shit.
a fatal flaw with these faster printers is that they require gravis (a downward forces) to work. gravity is in very short supply here and no, spinning the station is not an option, i got in trouble for just doing a barrel roll!
