Perhaps you have just hit the nail on the head. Imagine how upset the human race would be if we find out we were genetically engineered to be more intelligent and less violent so as to be used as a slave race for mining important elements in the ancient past.

Interesting. I didn't know he said that. It does seem to fit with the 30% people claim is needed for the test when nothing in the test seems related to 30%. The closest you can come is 33.3% by using the three choices (human, computer, and unknown), but it seems weird that it is always rounded down to 30 then. Your bit of info fits nicely. Plus, why should unknown be an alowed choice. It seems to me you have to make a determination either way, human or computer. You can't wimp out of your duty as the judge and jost say you don't know!

It was always 30%: "human", "not human", and "not sure".

Always?! The test created by Turing specified that there were two subjects that the judge were interacting with. One human and one computer. There is no "not sure" choice. There is which one is a human and which one is a computer. You cannot answer that they are both human, both computer, one a human and the other is unknown, one a computer and the other is unknown, both unknown, etc. It seems that 50% is the correct percentage to me!

Comment Re:ABS is not "more dangerous" (Score 1) 243

But if you are only doing 5-7 MPH as you approach a stop sign you don't really need to worry about steering. Locking the brakes will plow the snow up in front of the tires and stop you much quicker than the ABS that keeps rolling right through the stop sign. In an emergency situation, keeping control of the vehicle by maintaining steering is a very valuable thing. In a non-emergency situation there are times where locking the brakes works better than keeping them rolling.

Comment Re:Yeah. Right. (Score 1) 243

ABS allows you to keep steering while braking hard on slippery roads. In winter with snowy conditions it definitely makes the stopping distance longer than non-ABS braking. I stomped the brakes down completely and felt the truck just keep going with a very long braking distance. On a truck without ABS, I was able to stop in a much shorter distance. As for control and steering, I didn't need them, so it wasn't a big deal in this case. The locking up of the tires might have even helped the braking distance as the snow gets piled up in front of the tires as you slide.

Comment Re:How do you make a lego character female? (Score 1) 208

If you check out the Lego Friends sets you will see that they now have mini-fig characters that have more shape to their body. The males and females have different body shapes and actual molded clothes. They are much more similar to Playmobile characters and now include lots of little extra parts like Playmobile has such as apples, crossaints, cups, etc. They made these to appeal to little girls as the rectangular characters didn't encourage girls imagination as much as the Playmobile characters did or something like that. The Disney Princess sets have very similar looking characters.

Well, Mexico is south of America! Everything south of America is a South American country, everything north of America is a North American country. That leads to everything east of America being an East American country and everything west of America being a West American country. See how simple that makes everything.
