In the FOSS world you have five kinds of developers.
1. The company they work for pays them to work on the project.
2. They make money customizing and supporting a FOSS project.
3. They are working on a project for school or college and decide to make it FOSS.
4. They love to right code and they are doing it for fun.

If you are category 4 and it stops being fun you move on to playing board games, riding motorcycles, or backpacking.

If you put up your own website and put ads on it because YOU WANT TO BE COMPENSATED the yes.
When you decide to post on someone else website and know that you will not be then no.
Think of it this way.
If I give you a tomato that I grew then you are free to take it.
If I put it on a stand with a box that says ten cents a tomato and you take one then you are unethical.

It is ethical for you to do what you want and be compensated how you want. It is unethical to say how others should be compensated for their work.
When I help sling sod at Habitat for Humanity I do not get paid. It would be unethical for me tell someone else they have to help me lay sod at my house for free.

I think they actually mean oil but have no clue that it is not really used for generation of electricity. I as does the gov lump bunker, gasoline, and diesel under oil but coal????

THe thing is that people forget just how bad it was in the past. In the 60s people where sure that the Bald Eagle and the Bison would go extinct. In the 1970s lake Erie was considered dead and a river in Ohio was so polluted that it caught fire. People were predicting that humans would be on the brink of extinction by 2000.
As education and standards of living go up population growth goes down. China forced this issue in ways that I find immoral but Indias population growth will soon start to slow. Recycling of a lot of materials along with new methods of extraction will increase the amount of commodities available. Take a look at historic trends and you will see commodity prices are still going down as a whole. Sure you see spikes now and then but the trend is down.
Frankly I wish I was younger because I think the future is going to be better than the past. But then I am a big history fan and know that it was not all sock hops and malt shops.

Less than 2% of all electrical power comes from Oil. Far less than wind or solar. It is only used really in remote locations like Hawaii where gas and coal are not practical.

You would replace the coal plants with nuclear and keep natural gas. Oil in the US is only used isolated locations where coal and gas are not good options like Hawaii.
You would keep the Hydro and gas for now and keep wind and some solar where it makes sense.

The problem I have is the "resources will decrease" part of it. Iron/steel, aluminum, and glass are just about infinitely recyclable. Power if the Lockheed High beta, the Polywell and or Thorium molten salt reactors go into production will also be even more available than now. Frankly it is just as likely we will live in a world with greater abundance than today.

The solution is simple. Stop going to ad supported websites.

The problem is the lack of leaders. Today all we have are activists that make a living by not fixing problems but by making them worse.

Angry mob that does not have all the evidence vs a grand jury that does have the evidence.

AKA this is a lynch mob that the KKK would be proud of.

Rule of law is imperfect but it is much better than the rule of the mob.

Simple you where not on the Jury so you only have the evidence the media you pick gives you.
1. Brown was high.
2. He had just robbed a store and physically attacked the owner of the store.
3. The officer had injuries.
4. The shots where fired at close range. AKA the evidence did not match the witnesses.
5. Eyewitnesses are not reliable.

The real issue is we do not want trial by public opinion. That is called a lynch mob. MLK never set anything on fire or looted.

My complaint is that no one seems to read anymore.
As I said over all I think this is a good idea.
