Not that having a spinal column was ever a regular feature of your average politician, but the absolute cluelessness of major UK political figures in the last couple of days is stunning. As far as I can tell, only Nicola Sturgeon has managed to avoid dumping large amounts of shit on herself.
Personally, I lay a lot of the blame at Tony Blair's feet. If he'd hadn't been such a mendacious prick, most of the current crop of British pols wouldn't even exist today.

Your read seems about the same as mine: Just about every leading political figure in Britain (other than Sturgeon) has managed to utterly discredit him- or herself, and in record time.
The media keep referring to a "gap" in the leadership. What "gap" is that, pray tell? There's no bloody leadership left for there to be a gap in!

I hear that Scotland's thinking about ejecting England and Wales from the UK--since they're the ones so hell-bent on leaving things--and carrying on with it, and without them.

All I can figure is they liked the idea, but not a single one of them, other than the SNP leader, had even bothered to think about what it would mean to exit the EU and the consequences to every sector in their societies, because they'd dressed up in silly costumes and gone on a massive bender.
The Scottish are used to getting a big drunk on but getting things done anyway, mind you.

The good news is the stock markets panicked and went into a slide, taking the commodities markets with them. I filled up at a quarter a gallon cheaper than last week.
