Journal Captain Splendid's Journal: The Force Awakens 9

Can't believe I'm about to write this...but the prequels were better. Which is a shame, since the cast were obviously working their asses off (including a rare, actual performance form Harrison Ford).

  • I don't seem to have the attention span for movies. Although, for spite, I'd love to make damn_registrars sit through 13 Hours [youtube.com].

If you need to consciously pay attention to any movie, TV show, or whatever, how good could it be?

  • Just wondering if you liked this one at all...

I gotta know, did anybody say it?

    • I liked it better than the prequels. Though the link between the Jedi and the Catholic Church in the end seemed a bit wierd. How did they get the Millenium Falcon to fit on the dock at Skellig Michael?

Fun, if you totally turn your brain off.

I can't say it was worse than the prequels because of Jar Jar Binks, midi-chlorians and Hayden Christensen's acting skills (or lack thereof).

This one had plot holes big enough to drive a space freighter through. And the space physics were bad, even for Star Wars.

It was solely about passing the torch, making money and then making more money. Oh, and setting the tone that future installments will be shallow enough to skip stones on -- no more boring politics or attempts

    • You're looking for depth? It's a western! John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara...

Well, the whole franchise is like that. SWIV is only deep if you see it when you're 12.

  • I didn't think the prequels were better - but it was pretty poor in my opinion.

It's all right - I didn't have big hopes and my kids liked it.

  • Hmm. I didn't like SW 1-3 (the prequels).

    I did like SW 7.

That said, it's just a movie.
