  • I haven't seen all of the shows, but I did catch the premier Friday. I'll try to participate, but I won't know much about the minutia. I do wonder about the "final 5" and whatnot though.

I dunno how far back it extends, but I noticed that episodes are available for viewing on the sci-fi website. I haven't actually even tried viewing one, but might be worth a look :-)

Don't feel too bad about the final 5; it doesn't make a whole lot of sense even if you have seen all the episodes.
      • Actually, until they specifically mentioned it, I never noticed that we had only seen 7 "humanoid" models- and I always thought that the 12 would have included the Centurions, Raiders, and Base Ships, and quite possibly a couple of other classes of ships as well.

Now that I've been disabused of the notion that the 12 models including non-humanoids- I think the final model is Kara Thrace. It's the only thing that can explain her recent experiences.

        • And it bugs me that the early "glowing eyes and spine" haven't been leveraged into a working Cylon detector yet. It seems to me a race advanced enough to have hyperwarp jump ought to be able to detect nanites.

Wouldnt that just be like, ok all the females in the fleet hop on the sybian and were going to see what happens on your back when you get aroused?
          • More like, any decent medical scanner would pick up the light emitting diodes, cells, biolumenescence, etc and it would be an obvious difference from "normal" humans.

An MRI today would do the job....
        • I think the final model is Kara Thrace

Not gonna happen. Making Starbuck female was a stroke of genius because it handily obscures what she really is (and shows us all how sexist our minds still are.)

What you have to remember is that Starbuck is, well, Starbuck. She's the Hero. She's Tom Cruise, but as a chick. And narrative expediency tells us that the Hero is never wrong, and never knowingly works for the bad guys. It's just difficult for us to remember, because she's a chick, and we're used to
          • I sort of do think that it is going to be Starbuck as well, but you make a good point in that she is one of the heroes in this. Besides, she and Balthar are way too obvious, because they are both so weird and cylonish.

The final one is going to have to be a big deal though, because the Xena-bot was all surprised. I guess if I did go back and watch all of the previous ones I might be able to figure it out (nizo - we have them all on DVD, I just haven't had the time, and husband has been loaning them ou

            • Which I guess leaves Adama

I've counted him out because the pop-tarts(human-cylon babies) seem very important. If he was a Cylon that would mean Apollo is also a pop-tart, and that seems to make the babies much less special. Unless of course Apollo and his brother were adopted(shock).
              • Ok, I talked myself out of the Adama's again, after going through what I put in my other comment to you (because I'm not sure Xena-bot ever met them). But... the way I justified it was that Adama sr's wife was rather like Tigh's if you get my drift. And that his sons were not biologically his. Besides the fact that they don't really look like him, which I guess is just bad casting.

Though then you gotta wonder why she has been drawing the nebula her whole life.

Then again, we see that the cylons are able to tap into some kind of "group consciousness", and that some people also seem to have this ability, so that is a possible explanation. I still don't get how the last models don't know they are cylons however, and I did find it interesting when the one model (Helo?) was scanned in the latest episode (more like identified it seems). The relation of the final five to the rest of the cylo
  • ...that I was able to refresh my memory and watch all of the season three dvds before fridays episode. I mean thats only like 20 episodes to get through in the two weeks between the dvd release and start of season 4. :)
  • ...but I realized it was lame as I grew older, especially when they got to Earth and turned into an alien version of the Brady Bunch.

I still remember that episode when the Cylons started a fire in the hangar bay, and Muffit rescued a bunch of trapped people. Oh yeah, and Pinky Tuscadero.

    • So, are you trying to be clever, or do you really not know that Ron Moore, of DS9 fame, rebooted the show a few years ago?

If the twee-ness of the original turned you off, the remake ought to be palatable to you.

Oh, and Nizo, I've long been a freak for this show, so I am ready, willing and able to discuss even the tiniest minutiae if you would like.

So.... when they find earth, my theory is that it will be in the far future* (in relation to the real life "now"). Of course then the question is, will it be prepared for a cylon assault, or just a bunch of future-amish?

*This makes sense: humans colonize out from earth (first at Kobol, and then later the rest of the colonies) and then later people decide to go back and re-colonize earth. As for the religion, resurrecting a long dead religion isn't the weirdest thing to ever happen. This would also explain w
        • Since you brought up religion in this thread, I'll go ahead and post my question here.

The cylons know they were created by man. Why are they going on about the "one true god" and how he is the creator of all things. All things except the cylons that are the only ones that believe in him.

          • by nizo ( 81281 ) *
I think the "razor" episode probably will shed some light on that question....
  • "Bowel-Scarred GreenLaxative". I watched the pilot of the new one, bet myself I'd be done inside of 5 episodes, and won.
  • Ok, some very random thoughts.

I think the final 5 are unique, and do not have copies. They are the creators of the 7 models. The 5 set things up so certain events would go into motion, and then they programmed themselves to enter into human life and forget/disappear from the cylon world until a preset event/trigger caused them to wake up from their programming. They also put a deeply hidden program into the centurions, raiders, and basestars that causes them to recognize the 5 and back off in case of an enc
    • Love the nick pop-tart. Full of awesome!

I agree it is going to have to be a main character, I have another comment that I just wrote up a couple of threads. Plus, I think it's going to have to be someone that the other models had been exposed to in order for Xena-bot to have been surprised when she saw the final 5 in the temple.

(I don't consider the 4 already revealed to be worthy of that kind of surprise really.)

      • Plus, I think it's going to have to be someone that the other models had been exposed to in order for Xena-bot to have been surprised when she saw the final 5 in the temple.

I agree, but I have been having trouble remembering who she would have come into contact with in the past to trigger the "I'm sorry" comment. She did say sorry right? Maybe we have never been shown the reason that she was surprised, and when it is revealed we will get a flashback from her showing why she was shocked. Hmmmm the more I think about it the more I think that if it was something we had seen before the fans would have figured it out by now.

        • I think she did say sorry, but I interpreted it as a "sorry I didn't recognize you" instead of a "sorry I did something horrible to you not realizing who you were". If it is the latter though, then I guess they could play it as "sorry I had your eye ripped out, Tigh" which I don't know if they ever showed that part because I haven't seen them all, but that would be a pretty lame way of playing off that line to avoid a bigger more interesting reveal.

It is interesting that of the 4 shown already, weren'

Hadn't thought of that! Makes perfect sense now that you mention it.

Genesis is a great place to start.

Have to agree on that one. I very much get the impression that as the series winds down, all the factions (and there's way more than just the basic humans vs cylons here) will ignite in a clusterfuck as they get to earth. In the end, everbody's wiped out, saved for the 2 hybrids, delivered to "earth" by a dying Starbuck in a smo

I kept thinking Baltar looked like Jesus in the last episode....

Anyway, I also keep wondering about the "probe" they found earlier. It was almost like a note left behind, coated in nerve gas (at least, if you were a cylon). Which makes me think that the earth colony must know a hell of alot about the current batch of cylons (including their "anatomy"). It makes my earlier comment about Starbuck resurrecting at earth sound more plausible too.
        • yeah, Baltar was definitely working the Jesus beard.

Did you find the brown haired woman that "rescued" Baltar to be a bit creepy?
It seemed like she was using him as a pawn so she could be in control of the group. She didn't appear to believe in him the way the followers did. I wouldn't be surprised if she was poisoning the boy, and then stopped so she could create a miracle just to set him up as the real deal.
          • by nizo ( 81281 ) *

Yeah something weird about her, but then again people who are part of a zombie-like cult probably act weird :-D
        • kept thinking Baltar looked like Jesus in the last episode....

Or Lucifer. Kara fits the Prophet model better at the moment, whereas I think Baltar's just going to be muddying up the waters for a while with his One God movement. Nothing like trying to stave off extinction while some nutter raves on about everybody having the wrong religion.

      Hehe pop-tart.

I just realized; what if Starbuck is a cylon, and she resurrected at earth? In other words, the "cylon abilities" (or even awareness) of the final 5 might not have kicked in until they got close to earth. So basically earth is inhabited by a bunch of cylons already??? Though they may not get along well with the current batch of cylons.
      • Well, not sure if I should share this or not, but some of the scifi channel descriptions of the future episodes have hit online and it does look like there is going to be some active human-cylon collaboration against a common foe.

Now thinking that the 7 have already had disagreements between themselves enough to box Deanna, do the 7 fracture enough that some of them line up against the others, with toasters shooting each other? Perhaps the difference in opinion between the models that want to wipe out the
        • by nizo ( 81281 ) *
Yeah I have seen that coming for awhile now; I mean damn they were shooting each other in the head in a previous episode. Even with resurrection, that is still not good.
  • It's one of my must watch TV shows, along with Torchwood.

But I don't think Kara is the Final Fifth - it's more likely to be someone else.
  • Sorry to spoil that for ya!

Actually, since we don't have SciFi Channel I haven't seen it. I'd like to, but it won't be for awhile.

MAC user's dynamic debugging list evaluator? Never heard of that.
