bethanie's Journal: Is that a dead parrot on your head?

Anyone remember last spring when I got purple and blue streaks put in my hair? Naw -- I didn't think so. That sort of thing isn't really memorable for anyone else but the person getting them done.

Well, in any case, I went and did it again -- this time, I added another color of purple and some turquoise to the mix. And I am really, really happy with the results.

I feel a little self-conscious posting pictures of myself like this -- it feels like showing off or something. But it's the nature of this medium that we have to make an *effort* to show ourselves to our friends. In meatspace, it's simply part and parcel of interacting with others.

In any case, we've been over all that before, the difference between on-line and "real-life." So check out my new hair. It even goes with my glasses!! :-)

That is some great coloring.

I looked at pictures of last year, and what I am dying to know is how well the color grew out.

Because when ever I do something exciting, I have to redo roots until it starts fading too much, and then I dye over it with a whole crazy color. But I have never been brave enough to go blue or purple, although I always wanted to.

Well, it wasn't so much that the color grew out -- it just faded. The blue faded into lavender the first time around, and then into silvery white the second time. The purple faded to streaks of fuschia that were subtle but also eye-catching... and it looked *really* cool.

Because I haven't had ALL my hair done (just "highlights," really), the roots aren't so much of a problem -- it doesn't stand out so badly when they've grown out some. Yesterday there was just about 1/2" to bleach (since I last had it don
