Comment Re:It's easy to blame... (Score 1) 78

the propose of business WAS provide a quality product or service to satisfied customers.. but those days are gone...
now the propose is the shareholders, cut personal, cut costs, cheat, but get the shares value high, high dividends and get big bonus for the CEO and likes. If the business goes down after some years, it is not their problem

a business can make costumers happy and it should do it... but as soon as it goes public, it just a matter of time until the target shifts to shareholders... even if the original owners can postpone that, sooner or later their will be gone and a CEO change will start the race to the bottom

Comment Re:IPv6 is my favorite thing (Score 1) 320

sure, hide your head in the sand, ipv6 isn't global not because of users, it is because of ISP laziness ... if the ISP setup is done, users don't even know they are using ipv6

Most of my bandwidth is ipv6 and i and my family don't notice. i still have ipv4, of course, so when a remote server don't have ipv6, it fallback to ipv4 without issues. My ISP have ipv6 since 2017 and i was using sixxs tunnels before since maybe 2004

Comment Re:Bollx (Score 1) 320

not money grab, some people do abuse ipv4 address... multiple ec2 instances with public IPs, instead of just one public ELB connecting those, k8s clusters with public IPs, public DBs, and even reserved IPs, but unused...
not all people/companies have good admins and many times is just laziness... this will force many to fix those setups

they will not track you if i don't use chrome and chrome based browsers, don't use google services, block google dns, use ad blockers and use noscript extension as a final protection layer.... simple and easy! :)

also, do not use windows and only good OS for phones (graphene, ubports and other open and degoogle androids... iphone doesn't count, as you can't control the OS, apple do it instead)

Comment good! (Score 4, Insightful) 24

Great, let fuchsia die, we don't need another OS controlled by google, just to track you without any way to workaround and lock hardware behind their selected "partners"
Even if that wasn't a problem, it is yet another project that google will kill sooner or later, leaving millions of devices without support

Comment Re:end all patents and copyrights (Score 1) 136

no software patents in europe and the world didn't end!
ohh. some companies may not want to invest... too bab, universities and public research centers also do that, that in turn benefit everyone not just one company. If companies do not want to be overshadowed by others, they have to invest in R&D or will fade away

copyright is way too long, 95 years is huge, blame disney and corrupted politicians
real patents may have their merits (but even those only sometimes), but usually are too long
software patents are plain stupid, it just like saying science could be patented!! but if you really want it, limit it to 3 years, if the company didn't make money of it, them it is not critical enough to do business and should allow the rapid world of tech to evolve and reuse that thing to generate yet better things.
if it is a good, novel idea, use the initial 3 years to build a business and continue to evolve, not simply sleeping and milking a patent from everybody else
