A couple clients who are higher up in MMI told me about this just before the google buyout. I guess I can say something now?

This has been planned from the get-go, and it will weed out some inefficiency and bring in more of the "Google Culture" and clear out what most know is by-now pretty broken model at Motorola. On the whole, it sounds like a LOT of people are happy about this (from what I've heard). The people leaving will get some pretty good buyout packages, if I understand it right.

So, no need to panic. I'm interested in hearing other opinions, though.

Seriously, does anyone believe these polls? I haven't talked to a SINGLE person who thinks the TSA is anything but bloated and useless.

I think they made this poll up, personally, and it's also statistics. I suspect either the poll is rigged or they're lying/twisting the truth....

I always chuckle when people say that guns end gun violence... when if there weren't so many guns in the first place there would be very little gun violence (as has been repeatedly shown in societies over the years)

So you're implying someone would have had time to take out their ammunition and gun from the case they took into the theater with them, load them up, and then shoot this attacker?

Or are you suggesting we all be allowed to walk around with loaded guns?

The first is the current problem, the second has been banned because it creates a LOT more problems than the first... am I right?

I agree with you that perhaps that person should not have been there, but they should be given a chance to rise and learn. It might not be that he's stupid, he might not have ever had decent teachers or the ability to develop a work ethic. This idea that by college kids should somehow have all their worldly affairs in order and ready to tackle everything seems a bit warped to me, but I know there are other schools of thought on that as well.

The world would be a happier, healthier place if we just stood up against this nonsense and admit that sex is fine, fun, and healthy. Seriously, who made that headline? It's headlines like these that keep perpetuating the controlling and immature notion that sexuality is a sin, punishable by censure or banishment from society. That is NOT informative enough. Isn't it in their best interest (in the short term) to show how little pay they get so they can push for more?
I want to see the total amount of money given to teachers as pay AND benefits. this is very common mistake people make when looking at their salary. It's one reason benefits have eroded so badly over the years, people want a basic number to look at and don't have the financial education to realize there's much more to that number.

As I mentioned earlier, those teachers are probably getting wonderful health care benefits and a pension that end up boosting their ACTUAL pay to something like a starting salary of 40-45K+ up to a high end of 80-90K, which isn't half bad at all.

While the teachers I know make a lower amount of pay than, say, an engineer, if you add in health care benefits and their sizable pensions you get a very salary.

Every teacher client I've shown the numbers to is shocked. Maybe it's that I only interact with well-off teachers, but even the ones who aren't doing as well still get some very handsome benefits that most people would envy and, frankly, boosts their actual pay by probably 15-20% overall.

So, there should be a place for everyone. It's not just either/or here, people. The people who get their hands dirty have just as much place in accomplishing things as those who sit at a design table or behind a monitor.
