Intel Shuts Down Its AR/VR Volumetric Capture Stage (protocol.com) 15
Intel has pulled the plug on one of its most ambitious AR/VR projects to date: The company quietly shut down Intel Studios, a 10,000-square-foot volumetric capture stage in Los Angeles, last month. The facility had been heralded as the world's largest capture stage of its kind, and was used to record music videos for Reggie Watts and K-pop band NCT 127, among others. From a report: Intel confirmed the closure in a statement sent to Protocol: "We're proud of the impact Intel Studios has made in the industry and its role in growing the immersive entertainment category. Although we are closing Intel Studios due to business conditions, we look forward to where the entertainment industry moves in the future." The chipmaker opened its Intel Studios facility in early 2018. At the center of the facility was a massive dome-shaped green-screen stage with more than 100 8K cameras, capable of recording the action from all angles. The resulting visual data could be used to create 3D holograms for AR experiences, as well as immersive 3D VR videos.

Three plots occur to me:
1.) Your machine(s), be they personal use or transceivers like modems or WiFi, or IoT devices may be infected and the outside world is rejecting you on that basis.
An anomaly: you're concerned about privacy and yet you use Gmail. Do you see the problem there?
2.) And more likely, you're using a VPN.
A proxy could cause problems as well but can be tamed if you use a sensible IP address.
In my experience, logging on to sites with a VPN is messy.

we are closing Intel Studios due to business conditions
A lot of people don't have disposable income right now, but the wealthy still have about as much money as ever, and they are still the primary target market for VR/AR, since the gear is so expensive. The only "business condition" that would lead Intel to close this facility down is that they never had a good plan for making it profitable, and they still don't.
Intel is rapidly becoming the Google of the hardware world, in the sense that they shitcan more projects than they keep going, because they can't figure out how to make money on them. If they keep going the way they're going, they're going to be an also-ran within a decade.
