    WTF the States?
Is this just "the TSA escapes the airport"?
Overall, it seems a study in moral and financial hazard.

When I raised my right hand (like any American veteran before me), I swore to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I keep worrying about how close to the line we have to get before we have to actively consider defending against the "domestic" part...

The trick is, the only armed part of the Executive branch, so far as I am aware, is the Department of the Treasury. I believe the law enforcement agencies (FBI, CIA) belong under the Judicial branch. Obama has no justification to f

      • FWIW, The Department of Justice is under the Administrative Branch. The Courts under the Judicial branch do not have law enforcement powers. So all law enforcement at the federal level does come down through the Executive. The CIA does not have any law enforcement jurisdiction either.

Thanks for the correction, but... "Administrative branch"?

Last time I checked, there were three branches to American Government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial... Where does this "administrative" branch fall under?

      • The problem I have, and you may as well, is that I take a minimalist view of matters. There is quite a bit of history and mental gymnastics going on.
Obama's ambitions are a) likely well-intentioned, and b) likely to get derailed.
So let's keep the opposition firm, policy-focused, and peaceful.

          I favor peaceful here.

As much as I may utterly disagree with Mr Obama and wish him out of office (or that he ever got there in the first place), I don't wish any ill will on his person.

Who knows... He may prove my fears to be unfounded. ...I hope.

          • At least initially, the signals appear centrist.
I don't worry too much about extreme makeovers until a second administration, and the 2010 vote will be a huge litmus test.
So hopefully the GOP platform can not look so much like that of the Democrats, and the candidates can inspire more than the RINO did.
      • I believe the law enforcement agencies (FBI, CIA) belong under the Judicial branch.

The FBI and U.S. Marshals are under the Department of Justice, a cabinet department in the executive branch. [wikipedia.org]

The CIA is an independent agency [wikipedia.org] in the executive branch.

The judicial branch refers to the Supreme Court, other Federal courts, etc. It should not be confused with the Department of Justice.
