I'm leaning towards "not gonna happen". If VP is below Hillz, then so is Condi's job. Plus, you have to weigh eventually losing the job and being left with nothing versus that cushy Senate seat.

It gets Clinton back in the loop, and works nicely towards positioning her as Obamas' running mate in 2012 (Biden is a 1-term VP). Unlike Palin and the GOP, Clinton showed she could park it for a while and campaign for the party. SecState is actually more interesting - and has more real power- than being Veep anyways.

She won't get it because the President Elect is smarter than that. He knows he's got a four year uphill battle before him, and looking good in 2012 is iffy at best. If he can boost the cred of his main rival for that election he knows he's not doing himself any favors. Seriously, if anything sinks her getting this position, it's that - unless she's looking at switching to Senator for another state ... in which case this "transition" is a win-win and Bill will be "moving" to the new state.

In another thread, I posited Ambassador to the UK for Bill. A little left-field, but fits most of the necessary criteria for ego-smoothing, distance from actual power, etc.
