I should have added that I recently bought my sister a new Dell PC. Ordinarily, that PC would have shipped with Windows 8.1, but Dell had a deal on their website where you could "upgrade" (Dell's words!) to Windows 7 for an additional $50. I took that deal, as since I'm the person who would have to support my sister's computer, I didn't want to be bothered
And a fine deal it is, as Microsoft gets Two OS' worth of revenue. Bles their pointy little heads.
Privilege white people committing suicide? I'm playing my smallest violin in sympathy
1. Not all startup founders are 'white people' and not all of them are 'privileged' either
2. Most of the startup founders do not commit suicide
3. Stress level for startup founders - no matter what kind of startup - is high, but this is natural, as the journey of starting up a new company (in any industry) is a rocky road filled with a mix of excitement / trepidation / frustration
As for the percentage of the excitement versus that of trepidation versus that of frustration largely depends on
A. The regional / global industrial environment in which the startup is involved with
B. The structure of the startup
C. The corporate culture of the startup, ie, the attitude of the close-knit of people working in the startup
D. The personality type of the founder himself or herself
I personally have involved in quite a number of startups and every single one has their own perculiar 'pain of labor' - and for each of the 'pain of labor', if the founder sees it as a 'challenge' it would be tackled with zeal. However, if the same 'pain of labor' is seen as 'trouble' then the thing could become a protracted problem for the company
The above is based on my own experience
YMMV

ERROR: SSID TOO LONG
You did know SSIDs were limited to 32 characters, didn't you?
...when you connect to a new network, there's a "share with my contacts" checkbox that you have to turn ON for this network to be shared.
If true, this would be a departure from the Windows Phone 8.1 OEM requirements, which requires OEMs to fully enable this, "killer feature:" https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-...
First, we're only talking Windows 10 PHONE
ERROR: INCORRECT
First: This is in Windows 10 desktop, as detailed here, complete with screenshots: http://www.howtogeek.com/21970...
Second: Even if this were only confined to Windows Phone 10, it would still be monumentally stupid.
ERROR: INCOMPLETE SOLUTION
There is no provision in this "killer feature" that establishes whether the person doing the sharing is the network administrator, i.e. the person who grants authorization to use their network. So if you share your WAP credentials with a friend, and that friend uses Windows 10 with Wi-Fi Sense enabled, than that friend has just compromised your WAP.
ahhhh no, for networks you have SELECTED to share it can do it. [
... ]
ERROR: MISLEADING.
Wi-Fi Sense's default settings are to share everything, all the time. Indeed, Microsoft's rules for shipping Windows Phone 8.1 requires OEMs to turn this "killer feature" fully on. Expecting users to have the presence of mind to turn this off is willfully disingenuous.
Well, you have to factor in the Iranian cultural mania for disagreeing with each other. The Shah couldn't keep them under his thumb, neither can the mullahs, who have their hands full disagreeing with each other.
From a tyrant's perspective Iran is ungovernable, which doesn't mean elements in the government don't give tyranny a go on a regular basis. It's an ideal setup for producing martyrs. The futility of cracking down means you have a little space to rake some muck before official anger overcomes reason.
They were spreading the same crap about Windows 8 machines. I haven't found a machine yet that I can't install Linux onto.
I haven't yet found one that I can. I've asked several people who claim that there is no problem, how do I get into UEFI setup, to turn it off (or add my own keys)?

Sorry, didn't think I was dick-waving.
You actually weren't, so I need to do the apologizing. Your post was just the one where I joined in, after my solder class memory was triggered. You are quite right, I use a smidge of solder added for the same reasons, vaccing or solder wicking and also to get more effective heat transfer.
Technically the reason is the reason regardless of whether you have yet proved it is the reason.
A very reasonable statement.
Many Linux distributions are totally fine booting on a computer with activated secure boot, using a boot loader that was signed by Microsoft.
Do you have any source for your claim that that will not work anymore? Otherwise I call FUD.

And there is always Macs - although running a Unix-like OS on a machine that is also Unix-like might be something for the department of redundancy department.
Windows 7 works remarkably well in Bootcamp. And Yosemite is only a reboot away.
This only makes sense, at least for my application.
