I don't like this development either, but ditching Firefox for something less free with more advertising is retarded, just like you are.

They guessed their terrible passwords. From what I read, their highest-level password was azerty12345, which is the French version of qwerty12345. They then interviewed someone about it in front of someone's desk. That person's desk had usernames and passwords on index cards taped to their monitor! People could read them from the video, and their youtube password translates to "the password of youtube".

tl;dr they had godawful security practices.

I can vouch for this as well. I bought 2 expensive mechanical keyboards that would disconnect randomly, repeat keys, and even press keys that were somewhat near other keys I pressed. That and their Razer Synapse software is terrible. It's bloated, it fails to update sometimes and I had other problems with it. Even the fucking mousepad I bought from them doesn't work correctly, I had to use double-sided tape to stop it from sliding everywhere!

I've since wised up and stopped giving them my money.

For one thing, he said, he now connects to websites from his own computer – via Tor and using a free software browser. Yes actually, I do boycott Windows as well.

Sure Windows allowed this to happen, but Sony *engineered* this to happen. If this is what they do to their customers, I don't want to be one of them. I don't want to be a victim of their next stunt, of which there have been many in the past after the CD DRM.
