First Cree bulb I bought when they became available in Canada was ~3 years ago, and the bulb died a couple of weeks ago. They flat out refused to cover the warranty on it, home depot refused to cover the warranty on it as well. So that will make it the last time they will get business from me. I switched to the philips flat LED, which are rather nice. I just wish more stores carried the 5000-6000k bulbs, I hate the muddy brown 'warm' colour.

Probably more expensive. Up here in Canadaland non-dimmable you can get really good quality LED bulbs for $7-9 each, cheap ones from your local dollar store for $3 plus tax, and cheap 4 packs for about $12. Dimmables are between 25-70% more than the non.

I strongly have the feeling we'll see space elevators before we get to Mars. Moon will be before that, and probably in my lifetime.

I know there are at least a few efforts at work on private space stations, including space hotels.

To me it no longer makes sense for government to work on a space station, when they could be helping to fund private efforts by guaranteeing to lease some of the space aboard commercial stations for government use.

Can you list said stores that offered different products? Because the ones in my neck of the woods in London and Kitchener all had the same stuff in them. In some cases, those stores were right next door to each other or less than 500m away. They had amazing amount of redundancy.

Let's be clear, absolutely no-one is going to be using this as a weapon. It's not even a "last line of defense" weapon for home invasion, because while some may want to watch the world burn, they have different feelings about their own home specifically.

There are actually some pretty valid uses for this thing - farming an pyrotechnic displays being just two. There are a lot of people in the U.S. with large properties that could have very good uses for these things.

But basically, this is just fun, because fire is fun. Anyone who fails to see that has had irrational fear of EVERYTHING so deeply ingrained into them I cannot possibly see how they can function in real life.

People always accuse people who like guns, and now fire, of being fearful. But it seems to me like instead, those afraid of such things are the ones always afraid, and without any real joy.

That's easy, because the media doesn't report it. If however, you head down to your local police department/service, you can request a crime log for the week, some places even have daily reports you can pick up. Which lists all arrested offenses, and minor calls(vandalism, theft under, non-violent domestics, etc) out. In many cases these are published to the media every day, and they decide what they're going to tell the public.

Like a demolition charge, it's utility is pretty limited, but when the right (or wrong, depending on perspective) situation comes up, there's no substitute....

Interesting that you'd pick those names. A quick google for wealth of US Presidents (adjusted for inflation), puts Bush at 15 (the elder) or 17 (the younger).

And this is as opposed to, say, John Kennedy (1), Lyndon Johnson (7), FDR (9), Clinton (10), who all have that peculiar D after their name.

And note that Obama is #21. Hardly poor by any definition of the term....

Note that I ignored the rest of the top 10 because they served far enough back that the Party they were part of had no real similarities to the current version of the Parties of the same name (once upon a time, the Republicans were the anti-slavery Party, not the Democrats, for instance).
