Please correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this an increase in the surface area of the solar cell..? Sure, some kind of pitting is going to be more effective at capturing rays (as one reader pointed out, sizing it for the red light of the sun) than a totally flat surface, assuming surface space is a factor in solar collection.. I imagine those minuscule pits would actually greatly increase the surface area of a disc.

Besides human health, why might we want to consider eliminating superfluous eggs from mayo and other foods? How much land is consumed by livestock in the US and globally? To satisfy the 'back yard' and 'free range' crowd, how much MORE space would be needed in order to supply the world's demand for eggs in these flavours? What sort of demand on resources do eggs and animal products consume, especially in comparison to plant foods? What is their estimated contribution to climate change? Can you compare the resource consumption of a jar of Just Mayo and Hellmann's Mayonnaise? (How much energy consumed, space usage, emissions, etc..) Same with your egg replacement, and equivalent amount of eggs?

I have a hard time with businesses that don’t make money at some point.” Ballmer’s comments come as Amazon posted a $437 million loss for the third quarter, disappointing Wall Street. "If you are worth $150 billion," Ballmer added, "eventually somebody thinks you’re going to make $15 billion pre-tax. They make about zero, and there’s a big gap between zero and 15." Fired-up as ever, LA Clippers owner Ballmer's diss comes after fellow NBA owner Mark Cuban similarly slammed IBM, saying Big Blue is no longer a tech company (Robert X. Cringely seems to concur). "Today, they [IBM] specialize in financial engineering," Cuban told CNBC after IBM posted another disappointing quarter. "They're no longer a tech company, they are an amalgamation of different companies that they are trying to arb[itrage] on Wall Street, and I'm not a fan of that at all."

schwit1 writes: A doctor, having just returned from Guinea where he was frequently exposed to ebola, wandered about New York City for days, thus ignoring government protocols that required him to limit his contact with outsiders.

Lo and behold, 9 days after his return he is diagnosed with Ebola.

However, this isn't the worst of it. The police, after securing the doctor's apartment, removed their gloves and masks used to protect them and dumped them in an ordinary street trash container on a public street.

They're not concerned about helping bears and other animals, they're concerned about making money. How can they honestly be concerned for bears when it's climate change, but not see how trophy hunting worsens the situation (where they supported Canada along with Green Peace of all groups in opposing the CITES proposal to ban the trade of polar bears, which was backed by many more groups, along with the US and Russia[in an unusual mutual agreement])? This group is such a fraud..

The U.S. and Russia, with the support of groups such as Humane Society International, the Natural Resources Defence Council and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, had argued that allowing Canada to continue trading in the bears was contributing to more hunting at a time when their sea ice habitat is shrinking because of climate change. The Russians added that the Canadian trade makes it easier for poachers in Russia by allowing them to disguise their kills as legal bears from Canada.

But Canada — along with Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, influential scientific bodies and other NGOs — said the Canadian hunt is sustainable and that the real threat to the bears is from climate change, not trade.

Although the world sided with Canada this time, Derocher notes support is slipping.

Keeping animal captive and housed together is literally begging for worse and worse strains of diseases. Hoof and mouth, avian flu, mad cow.. Then we get stuff like e. coli from veggies, which isn't even from the plant: it's from the manure it's covered in. Adding antibiotics only accelerates the process. Yeehaw.
