Cloud Foundry is VMware's attempt to knock the lights out of Amazon and Microsoft. Thanks to a contribution to Cloud Foundry by a company called Tier 3, Cloud Foundry can now run .NET applications, says says GigaOM.
I for one am a big fan of interoperability. Disclosure: I am a user of both VMware and Microsoft products for business.

It seems not too long ago that we wished upon a star for that elusive Sub$1000 notebook. Will we soon find a Sub$100 Tablet available?
According to Information Week: "HP Blows Through Final TouchPad Stock On eBay
HP sold the last of its TouchPad tablet stock through a firesale that nearly broke eBay. Was demand sparked by HP's open sourcing of webOS?"
Does this mean that it may soon be possible for a company to build a $100.

According to Ars Technica "A new survey seems to show that VMware's iron grip on the enterprise virtualization market is loosening, with 38 percent of businesses planning to switch vendors within the next year due to licensing models and the robustness of competing hypervisors."
What do /.ers say about moving away from what is IMHO the most stable and feature rich vm architecture available? Full disclosure:I am not clear on how the licensing has changed since that is not my department.

Looking to get into geocaching with my daughter next spring/summer. I am interested in getting a good device this Christmas season. REI Blog weighs in on the side of dedicated GPS units. This seems somewhat bias as REI sells GPS units but not smartphones. What do slashdot readers think?

Here is the full list of VGA awards given out Saturday. Should be no surprise to any gamers out there that Red Dead Redemption takes Game of the Year honors. It's nearly impossible to dispute the award going to RDR. Some of the other awards, maybe not so much. (Halo-Reach=Best Multi-Player I'm looking at you.)
