Yeah, the humor issue bugged me, too. The originals were more... british, if I might say so.

Most of the rest... Well, I have like 30 Mods running to fine-tune the look and feel - ever died of radiation poisoning trying to disarm the nuke? Or how about shooting a Death Claw with a dart gun and then killing it with BBs while dancing around it? No problem with correctly calculated crippling effects.

Additionaly, I definitely use the original FO music files.

However, they did get one thing right:
In FO1, 2 and Tactics, you'd have to be suicidal to rely on close combat. I think BethSoft handled that really nicely (OTOH it's no wonder, since their engine seems to usually prefer melee types).

Oh, but one more thing: Could I have my soul back? I lost it killing Harold with a flamer.

You're answering your own question.

What I like most about ST is that there's room for everything. From "Measure of a man", via "troubles with tribbles" up to O'Brian in the trenches agains some Jem'Hadar, "Year of hell", classic "Locked room" murder stories....

Watching a new episode was like picking something from Forrest Gumps chocolate box.

I doubt there is anything, that has nothing to do with Star Trek.

And I enjoyed Elite Force. Still a Star-Trekky-Story, but in a kind of story (FPS) that simply works better in a game than on screen.

And I couldn't even stand watching Enterprise!

  • Mr President of Earth: Great Scott! Will it hit us?
  • Scientician: Yes! Maybe. I mean, probably. We're pretty sure that it might.
  • Mr President of Earth: And how much damage will it do?
  • Scientician: Ah, a good question. That depends on what it's made of.
  • Mr President of Earth: What's it made of?
  • Scientician: We're 92% confident that we'll learn that with a 57% probability after it hits us.
  • Mr President of Earth: ... 'k. And where will it hit?
  • Scientician: Well, if it hits the earth, it's more likely to hit a wet bit. Unless it doesn't. And it'll probably be in the Northern hemisphere, unless it's not.
  • Mr President of Earth: So we should...?
  • Scientician: Well, gee, sir, that's your decision. I just do the Science.

Over the last 10 years, there has been a roaring trade between the west and China. Ordinarily, this would be a great thing, but so far trade has been completely one sided. The fact is, the west has very little that the Chinese actually want to buy, or cannot manufacture themselves. Individual companies have been making short term gains by relocating their businesses to China; but in the long term, Chinese competitors (generally state subsidised) quickly emerge and dominate the local market and then the export market. For short term gain, western companies essentially write their own death warrants.

But don't you know, a huge trade imbalance is a good thing! Yeah, and monopolies offer choice, and real income decline and a widening income gap is a sign of a healthy economy and democracy.

I honestly don't know why this isn't the default setting. I actually downloaded the Nook user manual just to see if it was possible to use the cover art (which they already have downloaded, for the CoverFlow-like browsing) as the screen saver, but, no.

I mean, how can I use my Nook to pick up chicks if I can't subtly cue them in to the fact that I'm reading Twilight?

I'm with you (I was born in the beginning '80s). I, too, cannot recall much of anything after a day of multitasking.

In fact, I've mostly stopped doing that as it seems to shorten my attention spa-- Oh, look, a kitten!

No, seriously. After doing a lot of things at the same time, I'm having trouble concentrating, so yes, I think this "multitasking" business best be left to machines.
