Timothy, here's an idea - put those "top men" you mentioned (a few comments above this one) on giving us a way to undo moderation errors.

That's a question Dice posed to several middle managers recently. "We paid a lot of money for this tech property, but we have absolutely no idea how to use it", said one Dice higher up who requested anonymity. "Seriously - help us out here! There are over three million Slashdot subscribers, but none of them will click on an ad!", he lamented. "And they won't come over to dice.com and discuss these stories we keep cross-posting! We don't want to just be a second-rate job board forever..."
Exactly. Why are we still wasting time discussing this scheme?

U.S.A.: 32MB
China: 10KB
Guess who's more efficient and guess who's trying to cram spyware into everything.
The Chinese stuff might just have a one-line routing table pointing everything to one of their government servers - that wouldn't require many bytes.
I shudder when I think about Google wanting to embed a Java runtime in my coffee pot and microwave...
In bulk it is easy to purchase microcontroller with 32MB of ram for $7
The Internet of Things isnt really about expensive geek toys like the Nest. The idea is that, a few years from now, all of our little devices will be on the Internet - including things like commodity fire detectors and cheap toasters. Seven bucks is a big deal when you're talking about something that sells for ten or twenty dollars.
Catatonic is a special subclass of Gintonic.
I remember the previous releases of Windows - I could launch two separate DOS applications in two separate windows and they'd both (at least appear to) run simultaneously. Windows 3 didn't allow that... if you switched to one, the other would suspend until it received focus.
At the time I remember being really disappointed by that; but now I couldn't tell you why. Times change I guess.
It probably just snips any footage where a black person is in frame.
So he's going to use Hewlett-Packard's software, then?
Threats of lawsuits are mostly idle. Call his bluff and see what happens when the ACLU gets involved and crowfunding his defense sends the principal looking for a new job..
This being Texas, I imagine there's a good chance the kid and his parents think the ACLU is an evil organization - they're a bunch of liberals after all.
the kernel is > 2mb nowadays. how did they get in into 10K?
Lossy compression.
Honestly, if it weren't for the extremely addictive bang searches (holy shit are those awesome), I'd probably ditch DDG.
It's like the old Google "I'm feeling lucky" option, but ramped up to 11. I love using ! searches on DuckDuckGo.
I know about the !g, !a, etc. as well, although I rarely have to use those. But, man, just being able to type something like "Mike Trout Fangraphs !" and get taken right to that player page is absurdly useful.
But how is that possible when the bicycle puts 90 psi on the concrete and the car only 40? I bet if all the bikes, matching the same volume of cars traveling over, could follow the exact same path, they would dig deeper ruts than a car. And what about my hovercraft? You gonna tax that?
What the heck? Are you seriously equating internal tire pressure to the amount of downward force a vehicle places on a road?
I don't know about hyrbids, but EVs are a bit heavier on average that similar ICE cars, so the EV folks would theoretically be getting a better deal if the per mile charges were the same.
Yes, but you're conveniently ignoring the fact that even liberals are mainly interested in taxing people other than themselves.
