also, does it somehow silently install the malicious apk? on phones where untrusted sources is unchecked? that would be the interesting bit, so I guess no. it would be the main bit of their program, not the irrelevant png wooooo encryption nonsense shit. they could just download the malicious apk too. or open a browser to go the malicious apps url and hope that the user installs it.

I mean fuck, there's dozens of ways to hide malicious code that even gets run in android without this. do the authors even understand how impossible it is for the automatic scans to check for every custom "malicious" code there is? it just checks for pre configured signatures on files ffs. their new malicious code would have gotten through just as included class files, nevermind as included .so files, nevermind as included linux executables(old way to do native parts without ndk).

now, let's get back to talking about host files.

While I can see the temptation, it isn't going to work so well. That war was of states verses states, with access to military hardware on both sides. A revolution in the US today would consist of semi-organised armies of volunteers with rifles verses a government with long-range artillery, bomber aircraft, advanced intelligence-gathering equipment and much more powerful fully-automatic assault rifles.

Erm, yeah. So how did less than a thousand Islamic State "fighters" just defeat a state (Iraq) sponsored force 10 times their size when the state sponsored force has all of the stuff you seem so fearful of? You seem to think it will be a simple us vs them battle whereas the truth is that the "us" and "them" are both part of the same government. You do not think that some general will command his people to defend citizens from a government assault or that some FBI analyst might pass information about upcoming ops to the rag-tag bunch of high school students fighting for freedom in the foothills of Colorado? Etc etc. The personal weapons are just a prerequisite.

They are also not the "sole manufacturing center for most of the west". Very little value is added in China, and it's manufacturing that can be done elsewhere, and is increasing done elsewhere as China gets more and more expensive, both economically and politically. It's only going to get worse as the chinese economy stagnates. I've been saying this for years, but people are finally starting to realize that China copied the post-war Japanese model right down to the bad loans, today's China is pretty much where Japan was in 1988, barreling towards the cliff. The difference between the 2 countries is the government though. Outside of the economy the CCP has been deeply unpopular for years. However there was little unrest since the economy was booming. However what will happen when growth slows is much more unclear. Hong Kong like protests against the government would probably be the best case. More likely is large scale riots as unemployment coupled with a large # of men being unable to find a wife is a recipe for disaster. The CCP knows they are living on borrowed time and are going to do everything in their power, including perhaps returning to the days of the cultural revolution if it finds it necessary. In the short term expect spying incidents like this to become the norm.

I actually don't have any data on what happens in groups of 4+. But 3 is definitely a bad idea.

that way you still only need just one sim. multiple sims are a hassle, but that has never made me feel like I would get yet another thing to carry around. if I need 3g/mobile internet and need to use tablet, second phone or whatever, I just connect them through the device that has the working sim. that device usually being the phone that I would receive any important calls or whatever with.
