Culberson As Chair of NASA Fundng Subcommittee Makes Europa Mission More Likely 57

MarkWhittington writes: As many have expected, Rep. John Culberson (R-TX) has been elevated to chair the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice, and Science. The subcommittee has charge of NASA funding, something of keen interest for the congressman, whose Houston district is close to the Johnson Spaceflight Center. Moreover, Culberson's enthusiasm for space exploration goes far beyond what would be expected from a Texas representative.

Culberson is a champion of a mission to Europa, a moon of Jupiter. Europa is an ice-covered moon that is thought to conceal an ocean of water, warmed by tidal forces, which might contain life. Using the heavy-lift Space Launch System, NASA could launch a large-scale probe to study Europa and ascertain whether it harbors alien life or not. Culberson's elevation makes such a mission far more likely to occur.

Just FYI, the "tab paradigm" for browsers was largely invented by Opera (as an extension of their historical strong support for MDI) - and guess where they had put the tab bar relative to the address?..

Tabs above page-related UI (address bar, reload button etc) makes perfect sense, because those controls pertain only to the current selected page.

Also, correlation does not imply causation. Is amazon paying women less for same job?

Probably not. But they only publish aggregate stats, meaning that warehouse workers and software engineers are lumped together. The best guess so far is that the former category has significantly more women in it than the latter, which largely accounts for the disproportion in the average wage across the company.

Ok, then, now about setting up a firing range to keep our US snipers in practice.

Just locate the "hot" end of the firing range along the MX border.

Anything that crosses into it...is a valid target. I figure after about 4-5 boxes of .50cal ammo, word will get around and we won't have the illegal crossing problems we currently are saddled with...

The problem is that "groups" are not some strictly defined entities with fixed membership. A lot of people from FSA have defected to al-Nusra - whole units, in fact. And, more recently, a lot of people from al-Nusra defected to ISIS, and more recently they have been talking about a former merger. And, needless to say, when they defect, they don't leave their equipment behind if they can take it.
