Comment You're outraged. Now what? (Score 2) 154

What I have noticed is that there is a story in the media every damn day about the over reach of NSA and arghh..people are outraged. Oh it's horrible, etc etc. Amazingly enough, no one seems to want to do anything about it. Where are those stories? Where is the demand for congressional oversight? We get the NSA we deserve because we the people are doing nothing to reign them in.

Comment Maybe you're asking the wrong question (Score 5, Interesting) 822

It's always the same: "What does Edward Snowden deserve?". How about "what should we do about NSA's over reach?". Lost in this discussion seems to be any kind of seriousness about reigning in NSA. At least in the 70s when the CIA was caught engineering coups they had to have congressional oversight placed upon them.

Comment You can rule out any ECHELON affliated countries (Score 1) 184

No secret that the NSA works with Canada, New Zealand, UK and Australia on ECHELON so anything in those jurisdictions is easily subject to acquisition. Equally easy would be any jurisdiction in Commonwealth countries or countries that are desiring entry into the Commonwealth who would allow this on their soil just to curry favor with the UK.

Comment That why I like cold brew coffee.... (Score 2) 49

I found there was a big improvement in taste quality when I lowered the temperature, but I was troubled by the fact that pour over was taking about four or five minutes to run through. I had read that the longer you drag out the coffee brewing process, the more bitter the taste of the brew.

I remember stumbling onto cold brewing coffee and loved the easier. milder flavor. Good article at Trader Joe's about this.. Although it's easy to do.....
  • Sew together a muslin bag
  • Pour in 1 pound of coarse grind coffee
  • Lower that into 9 cups of cold water
  • Let sit for 12 hours

Put a shot into your cup (1:4 ratio is good) and pour hot water over it. .It makes a nice concentrate that works great for iced coffee too!
