That is a lot of money. What could they possibly be spending it on because it certainly isn't firefox. I mean... it is a nice browser... but.... 314 million?

I'm a little flabbergasted by these numbers.

Some people never learned the lessons of Dot Com 1.0. Remember when Eazel got $20 million worth of venture capital just to make a file manager for Gnome?

So either Firefox continues to make it dead easy to change the default search engine to Google, or people will dump Firefox.

I have my doubts regarding whether most users will go to the trouble to change it. I'm always surprised to see how many people never bother to change their landing page or search engine, no matter what the browser is.

Employees having been whining about their boss' incompetence since the beginning of time

This is true. However sometimes a boss really is incompetent.

When you have to find ways to work around your boss to actually get your work done, it's probably a good indicator that your boss doesn't know what he's doing.

"Dark matter" and "dark energy" at least make some intuitive sense - we've postulated they exist, but have been unable to observe them. But, yeah, "dark magma"? We can see the magma just fine, and we know exactly where these hot spots are - we just don't completely understand why.

I guess next time I see a friend somewhere unexpected, I should refer to him as my "dark buddy".

Curiously no one in germany talks about those people when it comes to the wall falling.

I lived in Germany as a kid (army brat), and frankly I wouldn't expect them to give any credit to any outsiders - deserved or not. Back in the 1970s it seemed pretty obvious many/most Germans highly resented the presence of American and British forces in Berlin as well as all the American bases around the country, back when the wall still stood. I suspect that resentment would overshadow most everything else.
