I see a disturbing trend, even within mainstream newspaper's (!), to use greengrocers' apostrophe's. I'm no linguist but it hurt's my eye's to see it.

Regardless, anything coming out of the "social sciences" should be taken with a really big grain of salt.

The more you cut teacher salaries, the worse the teachers, because anyone with any brains at all will see private sector employment more and more appealing.

I've wondered about this for a while. I secretly suspect that should critical 'jobs' that require substantial amounts of empathy (teaching, nursing, ...) have higher wages, they would attract sharks who care only about the cash.

Isn't it possible that teachers are teachers because they want to be and that the pay is not a motivating factor in their career choice?

Do the programmers who think these features are "cool": and "awesome" not have managers with a three-digit IQ?

I know, what the fuck is wrong with people? Don't these programmers realize that a large proportion of their customers are duplicitous pricks who prefer to keep their secret?

... if you have to push a button you might as well hit the other one or two to set your channel.

Which is quicker, less intrusive on others' attention, less open to misunderstanding.

Apparently already covered, although pretty much everything about the article is wrong apart from this: McDonald's is the easiest target because it is American and it is everywhere. It has become the symbol of all that's wrong with the U.S., which is making the world fat and imposing our calorie counts and McRibs on a planet that is quite happy with its insect meals and pasty flour dishes.
