None of that matters to me, and probably many others.

I have a 2002 dodge ram 2500 with an 8ft bed with 75K miles that I drive around 5K miles/year. My other truck is a 2019 Toyota Tacoma with 45K miles that I drive less than 7K miles/year. Both are paid off. The Tacoma has a very quiet and smooth ride. The other is a truck.

Remote control features don't matter to me. And since I only fill up about once a month, recharging at home is also unimportant.

Let me know when someone builds similar trucks make it economically feasible to switch.

When you are the dominant player in the field then you can do whatever you like - for a while. But there are limits and if the corporate and government world decides that you are getting too expensive then you are starting to fall down.

Ummm Microsoft has the most secure monopoly on this planet. They can do whatever they want until only the US government (no other) decides to take it away from them... but even then, only the management will change. No, Microsoft is not going anywhere for many more lifetimes.

That is because you don't really matter. As an individual, you are powerless. As a group, you could be powerful, but your group will get torn apart if it becomes too powerful.

That means you can't do shit no matter how badly they abuse you. So they will abuse you. It is inevitable.

What a waste of tax payer money this would be.

Huh? Didn't you read about Google using Gemini to listen to phone calls (ostensibly to protect you from scams lol)?

Well, the NSA wants to do that too and... why not use "non-secret" money for that purpose so they can continue spending on their space activities without interruption.

There is a reason there is incredible resistance to encryption.

WTF? Absolutely NOT. The government should NOT own the means of production; otherwise, it would be labelled, legitimately, Socialist and moving into Communist.

Boeing needs complete and total destruction with executives going to prison. That will leave space for better managed companies that are not rotten to the core to step up and take on the responsibilities needed... or is this all entirely about cash flows still?

If you hold tech companies legally responsible for the content their users produce, they will *shut down* the ability for those users to produce content. Really itÃ(TM)s that simple.

Why is that a problem? Let them shut down ALL of their shit. The rest of us will still find many useful ways to use the Internet. They are not the gatekeepers and I am uncertain why you think they are or should be. It boggles the mind.

230 was bad law, but it was/is useful. If we lost the usefulness, I would be okay with that. I don't need to speak to you through a corporate mechanism like Slashdot.

Just call me a worker, that's what we are, let's not blow smoke up each others asses.

Over time, words gain "extra" meaning. For example, the word 'retard'. If you retard the timing of something, you slow the timing down or pull it back. If you use the term to refer to a person, that means the person is slower than normal.

It is impossible to use the word 'retard' legitimately anymore.

'Worker' finds itself in a similar place right now.

I have the same non-zero chance of getting drug into HR for something one of my women co-workers took offense to as I do of the men.

I have no intent at all to back up the OPs argument; however, it seems that what I will say will do so... :(

If you are a male and you have a female friend at work, other females may get "jealous" and cause unnecessary drama. Rumours will start. People will talk.

It is better to remain distantly friendly to everyone and become close with nobody, regardless of gender. Fewer chances for drama from the peanut gallery (many women, some men).
