I'd say the original series is the weakest of all of them... but this is understandable, because they were finding the formula. They didn't really hit their stride until a couple seasons in there either, but there was a lot more to like sooner than SGU. The state of the art was lesser at the time as well, so that made it more appealing, because the production values were really very high. It might not seem like it if you compare S1 of SG1 to S1 of SGA, but you just have to remember that time passed there.
If you watched it in period and were fresh off a high of watching the movie, it was a lot more appealing.

Sure, I agree. They also went after heavy diesel RVs, which are an even smaller percentage. I need to take ours in for a smoke test before the 18th. I have one scheduled, and found someone to do it for half as much as the local Cummins, but it's still $125. The engine has no emissions equipment whatsoever but California wants to make sure my rings are good, I guess... every fucking year. Even though this is a smog exempt county for all the non-heavy vehicles. This is the first time I've ever been big mad at CARB, I think equipment restrictions requiring an E.O. number are stupid AF and only tailpipe testing should matter, do it during an actual drive if it needs to be realistic. But that stuff is minor compared to this, which is an attempt to steal people's homes.

Engine ECU problems are incredibly rare, more rare than problems you'd have with an old-school injector pump.
That depends on whether it's a MW or P pump or not. Those particular pumps are as reliable as the day is long.
Besides that, it's not legal to sell brand new diesel engines that don't meet Tier 4 emissions for on road or farm use.
